Remarks

As I have discussed many things on the educational and sports front, I'll give you a brief insight of the other opportunity which can be tapped by the students. Delhi University is well known for its unions, election and students political parties. If one is interested in politics and wants to join it one day, DU provides ample opportunity to nurture your talent as a politician. Students can contest for various posts under Delhi University Student's Union (DUSU). It helps to extract the leadership qualities in the students.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Delhi University provides the best curriculum for all courses. The faculties of Economics from different colleges are sent to a meeting in which discussions on the course content takes place. They, every year, review the content and comes out with some changes if required. The study materials are up to date and includes various research papers of Indian and Foreign economists. These courses cover a broader area and helps students develop their research and analysis aspects. NOTE :- These books are also advisable for the students preparing for civil services.

Internships Opportunities

No our college didn't provide internship. It's Delhi University which offered summer and winter internship programmes in collaboration with various companies. The students need to register on its official website for internship. Also, the students can apply for off campus internships.

Placement Experience

3

1. Many companies come for placement processes in our college. They offer a package of around 1.5-2 lakh p.a. Economics Department placement drive will provide you with job of analysts and consultant in consultancy firms. 2. If you are good at writing you can go for economic journalism. 3. The students can also opt for government services in Indian economic services, RBI, UPSC and other PSUs. 4. If you are interested in high studies, you can opt for PhD as it provides you with high level research and teaching jobs.

College Events

5

1. Annual fest is the most awaited event conducted in the colleges of Delhi University by the Student Union. It hosts various Bollywood celebrities, singers, rock bands and sports persons. It also organises dance and singing competition. It organises fashion shows. It contains handsome prize money for various events. 2. Food festivals are also organised in our college. It caters participants from various other institutions.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a central government University, the fees of Delhi University Colleges is feasible for every class of citizens. It's around 8000/- per year for Economics Honors in my college. The students enjoy various facilities by paying such minimal fees.

Fees and Financial Aid

I personally haven't taken any loan from the college but Delhi University provides scholarship opportunities for its students. The students can avail the schemes if they are eligible for it.

Campus Life

4

There are many clubs at college level. 1. The most famous of our college is the Dramatics Club. It provides you with ample opportunity to discover your talent in cultural field. It has represented our college on many platform and has won many awards. 2. Dance club of Shyam Lal College Evening is also fantabulous as it gives tough competition to the other teams in many contests. 3. Sports club of our college provides the students with ample opportunities to enhance their sport abilities. The coaches are devoted towards the players. The college also provides required infrastructure to develop the sporting talent of our students.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

When I was in college, the hostel building was under construction. It must have been completed by now. It was being constructed in a pretty good area and would be able to host many students once it is completed.

Alumni/Alumna

There ain't any official alumnus network of the college but everyone is connected somehow and ready to help the young students in any way possible. You can always reach out to any of your senior for their advise and they'll certainly help you by providing you with enough information about the future prospects. Every year the Economics Department releases its official magazine which contains the list of its noted alumnus.

Exam Structure

B. A. Economics Honors is a 3-year course in Delhi University. It is divided into 6 semesters. Exams are conducted at the end of each semester. Every paper is of 100 marks : Internals-25 marks and Main-75 marks. Internals consist of three parts : Test-10 marks, Assignment-10 marks and Attendance-5 marks. Generally, 2-3 internal tests are given for each subject and average is calculated from them.

Admission

I applied for the course on Delhi University website after declaration of my intermediate results. After the completion of application processes, University starts declaring the cut off list containing cut offs for various courses in various colleges. Note the colleges for which you are eligible to apply for admissions. After the declaration of cut off list, you have 3-4 days for document verification and admission. The candidate will have to reach the college personally for documents verification. After the completion, he/she is required to fill the admission forms and submit the fees in the office. Volunteers were present in our college to guide us and help fill the forms. Then 2nd list is declared by the university depending upon the remaining seats in colleges. Similar process goes on and the university declares 5 lists in general. NOTE :- 1. If a candidate is eligible for a course in a particular college, he/she must complete the admission process within the time given. If he/she goes to the college after the next cut off list declaration, the candidate will not be allowed to take admission despite having a higher percentage. 2. It is advisable to take admission (you are just booking a seat) as soon as the lists are out and the candidate is eligible for the course he wish to take admission in. You can easily withdraw your admission from the college and migrate to a higher ranked college once the other lists come out.

Faculty

4

Faculties of our college were devoted towards us. They not only taught us the course content but also held discussions on current issues and burning economic topics to enhance our thinking capacity and reasoning. On many occasions they used to conduct debate or extempore in order to build us in every way possible.

Course Curriculum Overview:

British classics, Indian writing, postcolonial literature builds a strong foundation in literary analysis, critical thinking, and interpretation, which are useful skills. As for comprehensiveness, the curriculum is quite broad. It covers multiple literary periods, genres, and critical theories over the three years, so you’re not really missing out on the essentials. In that sense, it feels academically complete. But sometimes, it leans more towards breadth over depth you move quickly from one topic to another.

There's a placement cell and placement drives do happen in college but genuinely the package offered is not really considerable. After the 4th semester students are considered to sit in the placement drives though I would say it is not very efficient and fruitful.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.
