Course Curriculum Overview

5

As a student of geography department of Dyal singh college, to be honest i do t regret taking admission in this college because the geographical department of our college is one of the best and the oldest in the Universal of Delhi, i opted for geography because i got 99/100 in geography in 12th standard and i also have interest in this subject, studying geography is such a wonderful experience for me, I think they should improve the methods to teach students like using more digital media and 3D diagrams for teaching concepts of physical geography otherwise its all good, the exam are not that difficult if you will study throughout the semester you will pass the exam easily.

Internships Opportunities

4

DYAL SINGH COLLEGE HAS BEEN ACCREDITED WITH NAAC ‘A’ GRADE. IT IS THE 1STCOLLEGE IN DU TO RUN ON SOLAR POWER. IT HAS BEEN DECLARED AS THE CLEANEST CAMPUS IN DU. CREATING MAXIMUM NUMBER OF RESEARCH PROJECTS IN DU

Fees and Financial Aid

Firstly i had an inclination towards Geography. The faculty of Geography department is awesome with teachers having a good knowledge about their subjects. The curriculum is good and teaching styles of the faculty is also good. Four to fivr test are taken for internals with exams in last, practical exams were also conducted for practical subject such as Digital Cartography.

Campus Life

4

Dyal singh college has an annual fest called Priyadarshini which is managed by the college and its societies. The college also has a huge library with a variety of genres and amples space for studying reading and just sitting .Societies for dance , music , acting are present with many more socities. Me being in NCC i ge to experience many things which i don't think i could experience if i didn't get thi college as the Ncc of this college is one of the prestigious society of UoD.

Admission

I opted for Sri Venkateswara, Kirori Mal, shayam Lal. I got 600/800, i knew what i was looking for i focued on the course rather than focusing on which college i get, as geography is a field pf my interest and it is not available in most of the colleges of Delhi university, only 10 to 11 colleges provide Ba Geography hons, I chose this college because it was one of the top colleges for the expertise of geography and the fees was affordable, also hunge in terms of campus size.

Faculty

4

The facutly of geography department is good and supportive they are always available for the students specially for the 1st year student as they are new and there are around four to five internal test and one exam at the ending of the semester, Exam is not that difficult you can pass the exam by studying atleast 1 week before the exam (if you are a good student)

Night Life

4

The college does not have a gym but has a huge football ground . A larger sitting area like red benches, A huge library. Basketball and volleyball court . A canteen with good menu and affordable price, they also take care of the hygiene. Hostels are provided. Famous place around college is lodhi garden , Maggi point and jln metro is the neartest to the college.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
