Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is aligned to the subjects relevance. The practicals and theory are perfectly aligned to the course. The practicals do prepare us for real world application, we work in lab like we'd work in an actual lab with proper discipline and instructions. The improvement could be less use of powerpoint presentations and more board learning. In DU some courses like Ability Enhancement Course (AEC) in which we are taught language or EVS doesn't seems relevant. The level of difficulty is moderate in theory exams and practical exams.

Internships Opportunities

5

We are often offered unpaid internship. SRIVIPRA is offered by our college. It is an internship offered to students. It is an internship program in research and academics. It is offered to III sem and V sem students. In this internship students can work on two projects with assisstance of teachers.

Fees and Financial Aid

My college fees for first year was Rs17,425, for second year it was Rs19,262 and for third year it was Rs 23,185. In third year the tuition fees was Rs 300, university fees Rs 2,940, college student welfare fund fees Rs 4,300, college development fund fees Rs 1,800, college facilities and service charges fees Rs 13,145 and weaker student fund was Rs 700. My batchmates had a little low fees as they were from sc/st category. My college does provide some financial relief for students who are unable to pay fees.

Campus Life

5

In venky we have annual fest i.e. NEXUS. It's the grand fest of Sri Venkateswara College. It's a three day fest held annually in the month of april. We also have clubs fest organised by societies. The fest by societies are held in a few months. They happen quite often. These fests are organised by NCC, FAA and other clubs like happy club as well. The books are always available in library. The library hours are 9:30 am to 5:00 pm and saturday is closed. 90% of classrooms have projectors. In venky, sports are encouraged immensely. We have all sports like cricket, chess, carrom board, basketball, badminton etc. We have courts for basketball and badminton and separate space for cricket practice. We have students club like happy club that works for student welfare. We have ERP portal to check for our attendance so we can maintain minimum attendance atleast.

Admission

I applied for Sri Venkateswara College. It was my dream to get into venky and I scored enough to get into venky. After my CUET result, I applied for colleges and I put venky at first preference and next preferences were Aurobindo college, miranda, gargi. I got aurobindo college in first round then updated for venky and I got venky in second list. I chose venky over other colleges as it has good infrastructure and good faculties. Venky promotes sports as well. We have a big ground and separate corts for badminton, cricket and basketball. To get admission in venky we have crack CUET exam. To get admission in BSC. LIFE SCIENCES one have to choose biology, physics, chemistry and english in CUET. The cut off for venky is nearly 96-99%. The admission procedure was easy, you only have to apply for your prefered colleges. Only important thing is to carefully fill your preference list.

Faculty

4

The faculties are very approachable. They often help students nicely. They do understand if an emergency happens. Dr. Namita Nayyar from zoology department is very helpful and sweet. She has profound knowledge of her subjects. She often interact with students and helps them. Dr. Obaiah Jamakala is an amazing professor with a great insight of his subjects. We have internal exams and mock practicals and viva. We also have tests sometimes.

Night Life

5

So in south campus we have a lot of cafes to hangout with friends after a long day of classes. We also have a park in satya niketan to hangout with friends. The campus opens at 8:30 am and closes at 6:00 pm.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements around 5th to 6th semester. Highest package of 2024 was 25LPA. Usually 8CGPA is considered a sweet spot for campus placements plus it gets them easier to get into world class universities for post graduation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course Biomedical Sciences is very interesting as well as challenging, it covers various fields of sciences and has great scope in terms of research. The course connects theory with real world applications in hospitals and research laboratories. A few examples would include, antibacterial testing, PFT, EMG, blood tests, which are commonly performed in hospitals. The course also helps us to pursue our hands in research further by providing us with hands on training for skills such as biostatistics, writing scientific literature, lab skills, etc. A few improvements that I would suggest is the removal of outdated testing methods and practicals from the curriculum that are not essential for the real world currently. The teaching methods are quite good and interesting. The exams are conducted at the end of each semester and are relevant to the curriculum. The practical exams test your knowledge of hands on experience that you've gained while doing lab work. Theory exams are of 3 hours as per usual and test your theoretical knowledge from books and classes mainly.
