Course Curriculum Overview
I was interested in chemical engineering so I chose this course as I was highly motivated to do something related to field of chemical. Course is well structured enough to deal with current industry needs. Also the student chapter of the department is excellent. Frequency of exams is 4 exams per year hence 2 exams per sem which is one mid and one end sem. It is nice system.
Placement Experience
From 7th semester students get placement. Placements of Institute are very good. Average package was 10.41 lac CTC. In chemical Engineering it was 9.46 lac. In chemical engineering , last year out of 111 students 111 were eligible for placement and 81 got placed. Highest salary offered was 19.90 lac. My plans after getting a degree is to continue a job in core chemical only.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fees : 62500 Other fees ( library, etc.) : 7500 Admission fees : 3000 Institute development contribution: 15000 Security deposit:5000 Seat rent : 6000 Degree fees : 2500 Alumni fee : 2000 ( All these are for general and general EWS category students) if you are an sc st OBC student there is relaxation. Also you get free remission, (for general and gen-ews students also)
Campus Life
Infrastructure is okay okay. Campus Life is good but might feel okay sometimes. Fests are also very nice. Hostels are good, especially girls hostel. Only thing that I didn't like about here is the strict, irrelevant and orthodox rules of girls hostel despite of being Surat a safe City compared to others where there are no such restrictions. Also the intime for first yearites If you are a First yearite , your intime will be 7:30 pm until fresher's party. For girls all these rules are very strict. But it is good according to safety factors . So it is nice that a college pays attention to such things also.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are very good. Also the food served at hostel is very nice There are also night canteens in hostel. Girls hostel are very clean and nice. Facilities of hot water 24 hours is available. A room consists of double occupancy. It has 2 bed , cupboard, 2 study table, 2 chair and a balcony. Menu has stumptuos items which change accordingly. Also the service is affordable.
Admission
I wasn't able to crack IIT. So had to opt for any NIT. I applied for many NITs other than SVNIT but got rejected. But after getting chemical engineering in SVNIT and studying here then talking to my friends who belong to my other dream colleges , I got to know that I am at the best place. SVNIT is best for chemical engineering according to me . Especially it's chemical engineering society (ChES) is highly appreciable. Admission process is to secure 75% or top 20 percentile in boards and crack mains with a CRL around 50k of you are in gen-ews , girl.
Faculty
In chemical engineering, student teacher interaction is excellent. Professors are very supportive. Dr. Vineet Kumar Rathore , Dr. ZVP Murthy(senior most professor), Dr. Meghal Desai (HOD) are the best professors among whom I've met till now. There aren't any profs to dislike. All are very nice. The course is relevant to curriculum. There are two major exams in one sem: mid sem and end sem. Mid sem is of 50 marks and end sem of 100 marks. Apart from these quizzes and assignments are there during the sem. Exams are easy to moderate, mostly easy. Paper may be bit lengthy sometimes.
Night Life
I haven't explored night life in campus yet as we aren't allowed to roam in campus at night. Though it feels nice. You can roam in hostel area. Campus is a lush green campus so it feels good especially in winters.
