Course Curriculum Overview

4

Well i choose chemical engineering among the other as there are several opportunities for chemical engineers around my local. Definitely the research level of SVNIT is fabulous and connects us in practical way. One day in a week you will be having your subject tutorials so that you can connect the problems to real world scenarios. Exam timing are generally in the morning but first year students are having their mid sem in evening due to certain accommodation reasons. The improvement should be there in field of question solving . More and more questions should be practiced in the class so that a student can understand in a better way.

Internships Opportunities

5

Internships are provided through the collage. I have seen students doing their internships under various reputed companies and collages like reliance, Aarti industries, ONGC and IIT Gandhinagar and various IITs. Students at svnit are found to do varios projects and outcome are very related to modern problems. Recently i had seen ChemEcar in which a car was built working on certain chemical reaction. I found it fascinating.

Placement Experience

5

Talking about the placements , SVNIT stands in front like other NITs. Recently convocation was held to honor the degrees. Talking about my branch, various companies arrive and offer decent packages. These companies include reliance, Aarti industries etc. various students prepare for GATE and join PSUs like Kribhco, ONGC and more .. In previous year , chemical engineering branch holds the highest rate of placement in the institute of atound 85% in which highest package was around 14 LPA and average package being atound 9 LPA.

Fees and Financial Aid

Starting with the information, i am a chemical engineering student at sardar vallabhbhai National institute of technology Surat, Gujarat. Currently i am enrolled in first year and the fee structure for the freshers are 62500 RS per semester including tution fee and laboratory fees. Hostel fees are paid separately. I am unable to comment on hostel fees as i am a day scholar at SVNIT Surat.Every year , some selected students are given scholarships through NSP portal and there is scheme of Fee remission also where you get full remission for income less than 1lack and get 2/3 of the remission for abover upto 5 lack

Campus Life

5

So talking about the campus life , SVNIT is situated around the porshe area of surat. Connectivity is so superb. You will find malls and other entertainment just within 9 KM. SVNIT announces one of the biggest tech fest of Gujarat and students really enjoys it Further there are many more clubs and events happening in NIT surat. Like dance club, singing club and coding club etc.. But unfortunately first year students are strictly prohibited not to join clubs in their fresher year due to past ragging issues. However administration is very strict towards ragging now. Central library in the svnit is one of the iconic buildings of the campus. You will find books of every subject and even you can issue it . There is separate reading section also . Library consist of 3 floors where 1 and 3 floors are for reading and 2nd floor holds books

Admission

Honestly, i had applied so many NITs but due to my average score in JEE MAINS , i was getting only SVNIT and some Northen east NITs I did not choose other NITs as they are very far apart from my home state. And talking about my branch , there are various companies around my home town . Generally SVNIT accepts the admission on the basis of JEE MAINS score. Safe score is above 98 percentile to get into SVNIT.

Faculty

4

Ok , so talking about the course structure, i have idea about first year only so i would like to specify that in specific branch , that is chemical engineering In very first year , you will be having 7 subject named 1. Engineering mathematics 2. Introduction to chemical engineering 3. Engineering drawing 4. Applied chemistry 5. Workshop 6. Indian value system 7. Energy and environment in chemical engineering All the faculties being the polite is able to deliver full knowledge in their respective subjects. Coming on to exams , there is one mid sem and one end sem exam and sometimes class tests are done for internals. If i say about my dislike , i really dont like engineering drawing faculty of my class. The main reason is he speak very low and even half of the class is unable to listen him.

Night Life

4

As mentioned earlier about locality of campus in the city, campus includes all the facilities like gym, enough sports and etc. However malls and cafeteria are just KM around the campus. Students go there for fun and refreshments Unfortunately first year students have intime of 7:30PM in their first year , However this intime is increased upto 10PM after fresher party Hang out spots include AMUL PARLOR, Lakeview garden and VR mall

Other Applied Colleges

The college placement is good enough. We got 70 to 80% placement ratio. In 7th semester we got placement offers. They are many companies that provide placement. We got an average of 3 lakh per annual offer. Maine students do not get campus placement but we got off-campus offers there is no big problem of getting the job.
