5

Curriculum of mbbs is very comprehensive and makes you capable of handling medical emergencies, and not miss out on diagnosing critical cases. With the new CBME curriculum by nmc in place, additional focus is also given on the AETCOM (attitude, ethics and communication) module which is aimed at improving the quality of healthcare professionals produced by this country.

Internships Opportunities

4

The internship is done in base hospital Delhi cantt. Trainee doctors are given decent amounts of work, with mandatory emergency duties besides the trauma rotation, long ward working hours, a lot of OT exposure. The resideints and faculty of hospital make sure you are attending and give you a lot of work aswell to ensure you're passing out as a competent professional. The community medicine rotation also entails working in a PHC, where one has to do 24 hour duties as well and working in a urban health care centre (run by mcd) as well which also has 24 hour duties in various departments such as surgery, Obs and gynae.

Campus Life

5

The annual fest is called AURA and is generally held in the months of April- may All medical textbooks and reference books are available in the library and issuing process is rather easy, separate section for doctors perusing post graduation to study. This is infact not the only study area, each hostel is also equipped with study rooms which are open 24*7 for students to utilize The facilities are at par with other medical colleges, most classes are taught via ppt, dummies for tutorials/ demos are also present and a large amount of specimens are present for students to review. Most preclinical departments also have a museum to view. The campus provides - 2 basketball court, 1 gym, 4 badminton courts, 3 volley ball courts, music room with a variety of instruments, dance room, art and craft room and a lit soc room for the various societies. Breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner are provided by the mess. Random checks of mess food are also done by faculty in the committee to ensure that there is no compromise on quality. Moreover, the mess caretaker is very friendly to students and makes you feel like family

Admission

I had also gotten into a peripheral AIIMS. I chose this because - a) it is in Delhi, being the capital will have a higher case load b) attached to a tertiary hospital of good repute c) upon graduation and on appearing for neet pg you are eligible for an internal university quota in colleges like Vmmc, Rml

Faculty

4

Each department has around 3 people, besides the additional faculty through base hospital. There is no forth of faculty, teaching is quite good All departments, especially path and micro departments really put in effort to make your grasp of the subject very comprehensive There are 4 annual exams (known as professionals) which are common for all colleges under this university. Syllabus is rather vast and needs to be studied thoroughly to score good marks. Few people fail aswell each year. If 75% attendance (and internal marks) criteria is not met, you shall be detained and appear for supplementary exams. A total of 4 attempts per subject is allowed, upon exhaustion of which your degree will be cancelled

I always wanted to pursue mbbs as it was my field of interest. Here faculty:student ratio is good. All the faculties are well qualified from very well known medical colleges of Delhi and other states. Term exams are held regularly thus helping us to cope up with the pressure. It is quite difficult to pass mbbs as it has a vast syllabus but faculty is always there to help us.
