Course Curriculum Overview

4

I really like the curriculum of chemistry overall. Because I am studying in chemistry so I can comment on that. So I personally like biochemistry, inorganic chemistry catalysis. When I studies the topic catalysis and it's applications in inroganic chemistry from ekta mam, I got to know that this is something i can pursue and I was really interested to study it's applications in industry. Along with theory classes, you have many labs in your semester that prepares you for industry. One thing I don't like about exams is that they give so many days in between exams that the exams almost held over a month but in a way its good for students only that it gave them enough time for the preparation of their exams.

Placement Experience

3

Our college offers very good placements compared to other colleges of Delhi University. But ofcourse less than the IITs. So from 5th semester onwards, students can apply to placements. So in our college, there is a campus placement cell, that take care about all the students placements. At the first stage it verified all the students cv and resume who want to apply for placements. Then it provides all the information and details of the companies to students. Students apply to those companies and they get shortlisted by the companies according to their applications. The final round is interview. On the basis of interview students finally get selected for the placements. Many companies visited like meesho, airtel, myntra, samsung, McKinsey and many others. Students from courses like economics, mathematics, english, usually get good placements. But it also depends on person skills, communication skills apart from his grades and course. The highest package is 22 LPA and the average package is 8.3 LPA. But it varies according to students.

Fees and Financial Aid

I was in college hostel for 2 years. So I paid fees along with room and message facilities. The year wise fees that I paid is almost like 1.2 lakhs. Let's breakdown this into two semesters. We had to pay our term bill two times in one year so we can say semester-wise. Let's talk about one semester, tuition fees that I paid was 90, college student welfare fund was 1440, college development fees is 14000, college facilities and services charges are 4815, room charges from April to May are 11280 and from June to July is 11280 again which is very affordable. Mess charges from April to May is 9821. Room charges almost remain same for 1st and 2nd years. And message charges may vary depending upon the number of students and the quality of food. Per semester it almost becomes like 53000 that you have to pay within deadline otherwise extra charges may apply. Also in this term bill, library fine is also applied if you don't return books on time and lab breakage fine is also applied if you break some apparatus in lab expecially chemistry lab. Apart from this when you fill your exam form, according to the number of subjects you have taken which have practicals, you have to pay exam fees accordingly. For day scholars, per semester the term bill almost comes like 25000 including everything other than mess and room charges. The fees may seems high, but don't worry, there are many scholarships that are available to students from college, University and government. Alot of science students in our college including me got inspire scholarship for pursuing our studies. We get 60000 per year with the help of this scholarship funded by goverment. And there are many scholarships available to students from economically weaker sections and they can apply to these. For inspire scholarship, you need to get very good percentage in your 12th standard. If we talk of cbse, then you should get more than 94 percent. But this may vary every year. And this vary for every board. You must apply.

Campus Life

4

The college fest harmony usually takes place in January. And college has multiple clubs and societies which cater to every interests of students. Societies held their fests separated by the end of academic year usually in the months of March and April. And it is so much fun to learn about different cultures, traditions, uniforms of different regions of India. College also focus on extra curriculars like sports. It have basketball court, football ground, gym. Many students win medals in different activties every year and make college proud. Many societies like social service league teach us to always respect the non-tecahing staff of college. In this society, we take care of non teaching staff so that they don't face any problem. College library is very good. It provides very book that you need.

Admission

Well, so my first priority was St. Stephen's College and the course was BSc Hons. Chemistry which I got right in the first cutoff list which was not expected looking at my score but I was so happy about it. In science there was not much competition before I got 468 out of 600 and I got the top colleges. I keep St. Stephen's College as the first priority because it has a good alumni network. Ofcourse other college also may have. But one thing that differentiated between my college and the others is that it provides much more exposure in terms of studying and pursuing masters in abroad. And we have seniors connections who are studying in Europe with fully funded scholarships. but at the end it all depends on the student what he want to pursue.

Faculty

4

Well, faculty to student relationship is very good. Faculties are very much approachable to students in the classroom and even outside the classroom. And even on calls and WhatsApp. I am in chemistry, I like vibha sharma who teach inorganic chemistry in the brilliant way. She tries her level best to keep update students everything in her subject and give the best knowledge. I also like Ekta kundra Arora who is also a senior faculty of inorganic chemistry. I like Rakhi Thareja who is faculty member of Physical chemistry because she makes her subject so interesting by interacting with students. So, there are 7 subjects in 1st and 2nd years. And in 3rd year, you have 6 subjects. You have three subjects in your domain, one general elective, one discipline specific elective, one skill enhancement curse and one value addition course. In 3rd year, you don't have value added course. So that becomes six.The exams are easy to crack as they are made for everyone not just for intelligent students but for average students also. The courses curriculum is very much relevant for further studies.

Night Life

3

Night life of the college is best. My favourite hangout place in college is jcr where i play table tennis, foosball and carrom board. Gym is also my favourite where I usually go in free time and play badminton and do cardio using machines available there. After classes, I usually go at science dhaba and have a cup of coffee and I usually like this see the students in basketball courts playing. That was the most relaxing part of the day. After classes, i usually go to gym that also removed all my tiredness. My favourite hangout spot is also scr lawns. Where I just sit silently and listen music. One thing I don't like about hostel is students are not allowed to go out of hostel and roam around college campus after 10pm. They can't even roam in their college. And this restriction is even strict for girls.

Other Applied Colleges

Hindu College | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Chemistry)

My first priority was St. Stephen's as it provides much wide exposure in terms of science and research.

I will rate 10 out of 7 to this course curriculum because in this course the experiment and lab works is too low as compare to another courses like biomedical science, bsc zoology and many more. But it's ok I'm happy with this course.

Students become eligible for placements on the 3rd year, we have decent placement opportunities but not the best, highest package is around 15 lakhs. Companies that visit are Bain and Co., Urban Clap etc. average package is around 5 lakhs. My plans after getting the degree are getting into a master's programme and pursuing research.
