Remarks

The research or doctoral level quality of work can be improved. The labs should be well equipped with new technological device and instruments. The frequencies of rally for student election and other political affiliation can be reduced.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course offers a 3 year semester system examination pattern and with the major honours subject and also 3 subsidiary subjects mainly Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Programming. The papers consist of 50 marks each.

Placement Experience

There is also placement facility through Placement Cell for Engineering, Science and technological students.Various types of Private organisations like Oracle, TCS, Infosys etc. come to the University to recruit students.

College Events

Every department celebrates annual reunion function every year. Apart from that an Annual fest is organised every from every faculty i.e. Science, Engineering and Arts. Lots of renowned artists perform there. The most vital one is the Convocation Program which is held to give the degree certificates to the grad, post grad and doctoral students.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Jadavpur University is totally state owned goverment university but it is autonomous in nature. As a goverment university it offers a meagre fee structure which does not trouble the students at all. It also offers hostel facility to students coming from distant remote areas.

Fees and Financial Aid

Students have the facility to get scholarship. This fellowship is mainly given to m.phil, doctoral and post doctoral fellows. Aprat from that students can apply for various types of scholarships given by central or state govt. or private organisations.

Campus Life

Apart from studies the university always encourages student for sports or any type of cultural programs. The University has a renowned Cricket, Football teams and other teams who participate in state level national level sports and cultural event.

Hostel Facilities

Those students who come from distant remote places of the country and also from abroad have facilities to occupy hostel rooms with scanty fees. The fooding facility is also attached with the fee structure.

External Expense: Rs.4000 - Rs.7000

Alumni/Alumna

The students of this university are spread across the globe and they are also quite prominent in their work field and place. More than that they are so much helpful that the are ready to help their fellow juniors at any time for any kind of educational even in monetary support.

Admission

Through 12th board marks a merit list has been prepared based on this merit list I got selected in the graduate course in B.Sc(Physics) Honours. Though in some subjects in Arts course curriculum entrance test is mandatory and in engineering course the students are selected through WBJEE ranks.

Faculty

Very good faculty in each of the courses offered by the university. In my stream that is science the teachers are qualified enough.The faculty consist of Professors, Associate professors, and assistant professors.

Likes

One of the things i liked the most was the quality of lecture given by the professors
The campus is very spacious the college has every facility
A fully equipted studio and lab for Journalism students

Dislikes

Things i disliked was the most has to be the locality the college is really nice but the locality is a bit shady

I always wanted to take up Journalism as a career and the thing which caught my attention in this college is that they have a fully equipted studio room and other colleges may have one but the students even publish there own news report here it prepars us very well for the real world

Supportive Faculty - The professors are highly qualified, approachable and always willing to help students
Free wifi support - There are free wifi support for both student and faculty
Fee Structure - It is very affordable and low compared to other colleges in the region

Dislikes

Placement support is below average, and most studnets have to apply for off campus jobs independently, which is really pathetic in the era of ai where getting a job as a fresher is so difficult
There is no dedicated support or placment cell initiative to help studnets land meaningful summer internships or any kind of internships

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements starting from the 7th semester. For placement drives, we have to visit the main campus, Techno Main Salt Lake (TMSL). Since students from other Techno India campuses and branches also participate, the competition is extremely high. In the 2025–2026 academic year, fewer companies visited. Only two companies, Dronahost and WishCare, visited our specific campus directly. The remaining drives—mostly service-based companies like TCS and EY, along with a few startups—were conducted at the main campus. The remaining drives mostly service based companies like TCS, EY etc and quite a few startups has visited to main campus. The package they offered mostly in between 3.5lpa - 6 lpa. Furthermore the selection process of those startups is quite rigorous often consisting of upto 5 rounds of interview, two technical rounds with two technical interviews, and HR round My plans after getting the degree is either pursue an MBA or preparing for govt jobs

The everyday journey

Likes

I liked the campus . Their people and faculties are too great , they are also helpfull
The other thing i liked here is the play ground where students play with full of their energy and many game events are organised ocationally
The other thing i liked is the library where everyone use to study silently with poking others

Dislikes

Bad benches , like benches are too small to be fitted in our class I
In our department ac doesn’t work properly

Nothing specific just the campus attracted me Curriculum is preparing me for the real world approach and its doing good enough the academic pursuits is good Teachers should teach in a good way so that every student should understand Frequently the timing of exam is 3 hrs but sometimes it takes 1 hrs

Faculties are helpful and kind and the classroom environment is healthy
Classroom, labs and libraries have proper infrastructure
Certificates are provided for participating in conferences or extracurricular activities

Placement Experience:

Placement is provided in final year . Average package offered is 3 to 4 lpa . Paid internship is provided in 3rd year and the placement percentage is more or less ok. After complication i will either pursue Msc or look for a job.

Likes

The campus is big and full of greenery with the vibrant feel of nature.
The students of the same batch are friendly and helpful.
The teacher's are friendly and helpful. They do provide helpful recommendations for the betterment of your future.

Dislikes

The seniors are overly harsh when it comes to 1st year.
The infrastructure could be worked on. The college lacks renovation.
The hostel does require everyday cleaning and renovation as well as the campus.

Placement Experience:

I don't know much about this but I guess from the sixth semester the students are eligible for campus placements. This year a student from AEIE got a package of 11.2 lacs per annum and the average is around 4 lacs per annum.

Likes

The faculties are very good and very active. They are always ready to help
Campus is very beautiful and nice. Campus may be a little bit smaller but it is beautiful.
Environment is very good. And have a natural's beauty

Dislikes

Location is a thing which may difficult to find out.
Number of faculties are small quantity due to the college is newly established
Because of the college is new so therefore not huge like any NIT or IIT

Placement Experience:

After 6th semester students become eligible for campus placements. There many service based companies visited like TCS ,Cognizant, wipro, Infosys. Almost 60-70% student placed in on campus. Highest package offered by TCS 9-10lpa and Cognizant 6-7lpa wipro 6-7lpa infosys 10lpa etc. 60-70% student getting placement I will go for placement

Placement Experience:

The University Provides Placements options for the students from the 3rd Semester onwards. For the Department of Geography Companies like - GeoDesign and Research PVT. Limited, Wipro, Acadecraft Pvt limited, Cactus etc. are there as recruiters with an average package of 3 LPA. University takes a target to 100 % placement among then almost 60% are placed and rest of the students mainly go to the research field.

Since the syllabus is quite up to date, students learn a lot and are way ahead of their age group students. Most of the students qualify for placements with attractive packages. The university also encourages internships that carry credits in their academic report.

The Pros and Cons of Joining Jadavpur University Masters of Arts in Economics

1) I applied for Delhi School of Economics, however couldn't manage an admission due to the extreme cutoff on CUET exam for the same. I had confirmed admission from North Bengal University, however it was not feasible since I had a choice in Jadavpur University. Jadavpur University has the best rank among all other colleges I had a confirmed admission to, so I chose this University. 2) I wanted to study in Delhi School of Economics, but couldn't make it there due to the extensive cutoff in CUET which I unfortunately couldn't clear. 3) Jadavpur University conducts its own internal exam for admission into its esteemed Masters of Arts [M.A.] programme. However one can get through by CUET exams as well, however that needs a decent score.
