Excellence in Engineering: My IIEST Shibpur Experience

I choosed Mining engineering as I am from the borders of West Bengal and Jharkhand where mainly coal mine are present so I get to know some facts which created my interest in it. After that I found Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology shibpur to be the best For mining engineering and good faculties with 100% placements.

Many companies offers internship with good stipend. IIEST Shibpur has a strong reputation for placements and internships. Many top companies offer internships with stipends to IIEST Shibpur students. Google, Microsoft, L&T, Accenture, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, EY, KPMG, PwC, and more

From 6 sem students are eligible for campus placements. Names of companies visited: Microsoft Google Amazon Twitter Zomato Coal India ltd Ongc Bhel Tata steel plant Aditya birla ltd Highest package-40 lpa Average 20 lpa 76% of students gets placed in on campus and rest off campus placements. My plan to clear gate after btech.

Initial fee for seat allotment- Seat acceptance fee-?45000 Partial admission fee-?35000 (SAF and PAF paid after seat allotment) And during physical reporting- If you need a hostel (Eligibility of getting hostel- min 200km) : Mess fee-?17500 Hostel fee-?4000 And we have create an account in uco bank for money transfer in acadamic purposes. For sc and st tuition fee wavior already applied and for obc and ews we have to apply for it and if tfw is eligible then your saf and paf is given back. All type of festival is celebrated here.

Annual festival:Rebecca(at the month of April) Technology festival: Instro 13.0(month of January) High range and accessibility of books and jounals available in the library as it's the largest library in Kolkata. Digital board and speakers to hear professor lectures. All type of technical facility available here. Football is played in full enthusiasm and contest many competition in it from inter department to inter nits and iits. If a student is involved in clubs or groups they remain confident which many them smart and easier for them to manage all.

Hostel is moderate. Four people in one room. Individual get one bed, one table and one cupboard. Room is of 400m×300m with 2 fans and 2 windows and one door. Hostels are of 3 floors. Each floor contains one bathroom with 2 toilets base, 4toilet, four washrooms and one washing machine. Mess details: Morning breakfast is starts from 8 am to 10 am. (Review : moderate) Lunch at 12:30 pm (Review: Good) Dinner at 8:30 pm( Review:Nice) Quality of food and material: Moderate Registration process for hostel : Pay your hostel charge four thousand at uco bank scanner paste outside of bank then fill the four copy receipt form. Two copies will be taken by bank and one by hostel management and one with kept along with you. Then hostel management (Ist lobby main building Ist floor) with allot hostel for you then you have take that receipt to alloted hostel there you have paste your photo along with all your details in it. You may stay there as soon as you are alloted or you can join later. Rent rooms or pg are highly available near to college.

I applied for many NITs for different courses but I choiced this as it near to my home town and also where mines are available near to it. No rejection from other colleges. Admission process is very simple. As soon as you get your seat allotment letter, you have to wait for Institute physical reporting which is noticed in their official website. Exam- JEE Mains for indians and DASA for overseas. Minimum 93% percentile in jee mains for getting at least a branch in btech.

Faculty to student ratio is 1:10. Relationship between faculty members and student are very friendly. We feel free to ask them anything about academy at anytime. They reply very good and polite manner. They are alway ready to solve your enquiries. Their approach to student are fast. Abhijit Banerjee sir is one of the best and responsible faculty member in iiest shibpur as he handle half of the Institute problem and financial conditions. He handle all of our scholarships and tuition fee wavior and more. He is very friendly to us. One faculty member from Physics Department is the worst member due to his character and bad mind. For btech, full course is for 4 years in which 8 sem is divided. In each sem there are two exam: Mid sem- 30 marks(Easy and scorable) End sem -50 marks(little tough) Internal -20 marks(need attendance 75% and all assignment complete) Subbly cames in Physics and Ecology. First year sgpa are required to maintain good cgpa.

Wonderful gym present in our college. It is open morning at 6 am to 8 am and evening 6 to 8 pm. Timing for Boys and girls are different. Cafeteria is awesome. Best place to chill with friends. Library timing is 10 am to 8 pm. 1st year hostel is highly strict. In time of hostel is 8pm. And we have to sign each and every time in and out time.
