Course Curriculum Overview
The course is very relevant, the curriculum is according to NEP 2020. The curriculum is slightly different from the real world application and needs to be modified according to the industry use. The frequency and timings of exams are very short, the semester should be of atleast 5 months.
Placement Experience
From 6 semester students because eligible for campus placements. The companies visited are Texas Instruments, TCS, Cognizant, Pwc, Coal India, Microsoft, Amazon, ICICI Bank and many others. Highest package is of 43LPA and average is of 15.3LPA. In my department 63% placement is there and many others opt of higher studies. My plan is to pursue MTech.
Fees and Financial Aid
Total fees for 1 year is 136000,this includes Tution fees of RS 125000, Exam Fee of RS 2000, Infrastructure Maintainance of RS 5000, Students Activity fees of RS 3000 , and admission charges of RS 1000 per year. There is also a Tution Fee Waiver criteria 1. For SC/ST / PWD/ whose annual family income is less than 1Lakh Tution fees is Nil. 2. Whose Annual Family income is between 1 Lakh to 5 Lakh, Tution fees is 41666 per year. 3. Whose Annual Family income is more than 5 lakh, Tution Fees is 125000 per year.
Campus Life
Annual fest is Rebecca, and many tech fests takes place almost throughout the year. There is a huge library with lots of books of different types. The classroom are large and have a capacity to hold 100 students, all the classrooms have projectors for smart study. There is a inter college, inter department and inter hostel sports competition.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel room is of 4 seater. Each student will get one bed, one table and one almirah. The hostel provides meal 3 times a day. The quality and taste of meal is very good. The menu is decided by the students only.
Admission
I have applied for NIT Durgapur(ME , EE , ETC branch) and same for IIEST Shibpur. I got admission in IIEST with Electrical Engineering branch. I choose this college because the location is easy to reach from my hometown, and ofcourse it is nearby Kolkata. I didn't opt for NIT Durgapur because i got Mechanical Engineering branch, in which i was not interested. The admission process in this college is through JoSAA & CSAB. You should have a good rank in JEE Mains and ofcourse atleast 75%in boards examination.
Faculty
Faculty members are very helpful and supportive. When ever we have any doubts we can message our question to Sir, and then Sir replies to us whenever they are free. Per semester there are two examination, Midsem and Endsem. Midsem is a bit easy to score, the examination is of 30 marks. Unlike endsem which is of 50 marks and the syllabus is vast.
Night Life
There is a campus gym, which is available to all the students. For 1st year students there is a in and out time of hostel. From second year onwards no restriction is there. The famous place to hangout is Botanical Garden, Shibpur Ghat.
