Course Curriculum Overview

3

Curriculum is not that good I believe though the college is autonomous and they try to change and improvise syllabus I feel there are still gaps which can be filled. As for last semester of master course there are two taxonomy core paper which is good considering the specialisation is taxonomy but there is a not single phytochemistry paper after semester 1 which is I feel is not good considering the phytochemistry is also part of specialization. Also under NEP college have changed the already presented biostatistic paper with whole new paper of stress physiology. Personally I think biostatistics have more scope for job oriented people than stress physiology which is very specified part of genetics, physiology and molecular biology Frequency of the exam is 40 marks are evaluated through the means of continuous internal assessment and 60 marks are allotted for semester end examination which is centralised exam conducted under college examination committee.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee structure of my is overall good if we take a look at college infrastructure and somewhat advance laboratory techniques machineinary available. My course is MSc Botany with specialization in Taxonomy and phytochemistry and if we take look at the perks of my college having the Blatter herbarium situated at the very same place as a student I am having access to it in free of charges. As we look at concession thing I only know about the Christian minority concession also as I do not have any classmate of the same I am clueless about the percentage of the concession.for the first year of MSc I have paid ?19500 and ?20000 for second year.As far as the scholarship are concerned needy, eligible and merit based scholarship are there which are distributed on the occasion of st.ignatius memorial day. Being in need I received the scholarship for girl eligible quota this year to provide myself for the academic excursion of botanical field. Breakdown of my fee infrastructure as follows Admission Processing Fees= ?250 Alumni Association Fees= ?25 Computer / Internet Fees= ?1000 Cumulative Marksheet & Passing Certificate= ?100 Development Fees= ? 750 Disaster Relief Fund= ?10 E-Charges= ?20 E-Suvidha= ?50 Exam Fees= ?6000 Gymkhana Fees= ?400 Laboratory Fees= ? 8000 Library Fees= ?500 N.S.S. Registration Fees = ?10 Other Fees/Extra Curricular Activity= ? 785 Student Group Insurance Fees= ?50 Student Welfare Fund= ?50 Tuition Fees= ?1200 University Convocation Fees= ?250 University Sports & Cultural Activity= ?30 Utility Fees= ?500 Vice Chancellor's Fund = ?20 Total Paid= ?20,000

Campus Life

4

Campus life is good. I belong to the batch of 11 people. Each one belonging to the different type of the college from different surrounding but we roam around in this campus as a one team. There are many clubs and cultural committees present in the college example Marathi vangmay mandal, Xavier association of Botany XAB, xaviers zoology association XZA etc There are always event going on in the college main hall from various departments cells.

Admission

Basically my previous degree College is also situated in nearby area of my current college the route of travelling was familiar to me also less hectic is compared to my degree college. Admission procedure for this college was not that much difficult but filling the form of the previous semester marks was little bit lengthy and tricky. One of the major factor is this college doesn't hold any interviews or paid examination for the selection of the master's students.Unlike few college where they charge rs 1000 per student for eligibility of masters course examination.

Faculty

4

Faculty is overall good and supportive. Fluency in English it's somewhat more helpful if you have to have a smooth communication. For my department which is botany there is overall 6 Teaching faculty and 5 Non teaching faculty.Non teaching faculty is more helpful. Examination system is semester wise, you have to appear for semester end exam if you have not scold 40 marks in internal there is overall passing for 40 marks out of 100 marks.

Interview Experience

4

No there wasn't any interviews or GD as criteria for admission. The only admission form was very lengthy and descriptive having each section for all 6 semester of BSc degree marks and we have to fill that very neatl6in order to give clear idea about our major subjects marks idea

Night Life

4

Localities pretty safe to room at night but I am ensure about whether it is safe at midnight also. There are many places like metro cinema hall, flora fountain, gateway of India, elephanta caves, discovery of India, Prince of Wales museum, fashion Street for shopping are there for roaming nearby

Placements in Fergusson are pretty good. Students are eligible for sitting in the placement drives from the 3rd semester, we also get Pre-placment activities and tests before the drive starts. We get companies like Axtria, Vois , bluepineapple etc on campus. The highest package is 10 - 12 lakhs and 4-6 lakhs on an average. In my batch out of the 30 people we 20 are placed so far on campus.

Placement Experience:

The placements in the GIPE are decent. This year the highest package offered was 18 lakhs per annum by Deloitte and IDFC FIRST Bank. Although the placements are not 100% but it's around 60%. Students need to work hard and score well in aptitude test and they should start the preparation from the second semester onwards so that they can easily manage their end semester exams as well as the aptitude test. The average placement package is around 8-9 lakhs. My plan is to get a corporate job and gain some experience and exposure in the corporate world and learn how the things actually work. Many companies that come to the college are looking for data analytics role. The ratio of the companies looking for consultant, risk analyst is less based on market demand and other circumstances.

Placement Experience:

By the end of sem3 itself, the postgraduates are deployed into interviews for certain internships. But if you are with good academic scores and knowledge you can even get directly placed. Every individual is given 3 chances by the college to get and crack the interview but if the student is not able to then he is guided to where to apply but mostly ICRI makes sure everyone is placed as the college proudly stays with its 100% placement tag line. As I told here there are varied background people here with different needs of roles, the highest package I have seen getting is 15L pa to the lowest of 3L pa which even depends upon the company to your broad spectrum of knowledge. To specify which companies come here for recruitment are sun pharma, Cipla, and many more there are all 20+ companies that come and hire the intellectuals. To specify about me I am planning to get a CRC post as a start for CRA in the future.
