Course Curriculum Overview
St. Xavier's College, Mumbai is well known for its reputation in plant taxonomy. It also holds the Blatter Herbarium which is a hub of botanical resources. Experience of taxonomy is more closely touched while working with the herbarium and under faculty which is up to date with on-field experience.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for the current year for M.Sc in Botany is Rs. 20,000. This includes tuition fees, Laboratory fees, Gymkhana fees, Library and alumni association fees, admission fees, etc. apart from this expenses on trips and excursions are not covered in this structure. Various scholarships are available depending on caste and merit. SBF or Student Beneficiary Fund is one such type of scholarship provided to deserving students to aid their expenses of field trips, etc. Railway concession is provided. The payment mode of fees is online and no installments available. If needed cheque mode also available.
Campus Life
Infrastructre is gothic and aesthetic, it gives a very good vibe. The people around are impressive with the various skills they carry and show case at every event occuring. Events and activities from some or the other departments take place at all times, allowing a lot of insights in inter departmental knowledge.
Admission
It was easy to make into other colleges offering this course, however St. Xavier's has its own mark as it is the most well known hub of learning plant taxonomy in the city and is famous for the same even throughout the country. Therefore it was not required to think twice before choosing this college over others.
Faculty
Faculty - student ratio is decent. The expertise of faculty is plaudable. In depth knowledge and skill of making concepts understandable using creative outputs is a regular practice here. No biasness as such on any aspects of discrimination.
Night Life
Situated in the heart of mumbai, it is a place with a huge daily footfall without hundreds of people visiting the nearby locations like Gatrway of India, Churchgate station, Marine Drive, Colaba, etc.
