What Students Say

Likes

I liked the environment and enthusiasm of the professors to teach the students
The library is good and has a lot of options for variety of books.
Comparative to other private colleges in West Bengal, IEM has better placement opportunities

Dislikes

Too much pressure is given to students which make the study schedule worse
In time period of 6 months more then 4 months goes into exams hence completing the syllabus becomes very tough
Certain professors are very rude and too much entitled. Not all tough.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is set in a standard form. According to me is focused more into theoretical aspect rather than practical knowledgeable. Also the academic pressure is so intense their is no time for the students in pursuing their hobbies. The university is mostly known for cse department but must of the teachers who teach programming are unskilled.

Class Size: 100Course Fees: INR 900000 per year

Placement Experience

The placement of our campus is mid. Before entering the college their will be a lot of myth and the placements will be more glorified. But overall it's average. A lot of students recieve package above 50 lakhs but those are mostly gained off campus. On campus placements vary from 5 to 8 lakhs per annum.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fir the 4 year of btech in cse fees I need to pay 9 lakhs in total . Fees for other courses are also same. The fees has to be paid by semester terms. Other then the actual fees 1500 rupees has to be deposited before each semester exams. Their is no scholarship or quota

Campus Life

Their are a lot of clubs. But the fests are not that great. 2-3 big fests take place per year. Their is no sports no ground. The clubs are not that active. Overall it's not that great experience for me.

Admission

I did apply to a lot of colleges like vit, mit, bits Pilani etc. But as I am from biology field hence I didn't get into any of the main campuses. Hence I chose iem as it was better location wise and comparatively had better placement opportunities.

Faculty

Most of the faculties in our college are pass outs from IIT and few from other respectable colleges like jadavpur university. The professors have great knowledge and good experience. They are approachable and ready to solve your daubts. I personally liked Riya ma'am who is our English teacher. Their are also few teachers who lack teaching skills a lot. For eg our electrical ma'am who is also our class teacher. Their 2 semester is a year. Before each semester you need to give mid 1 practical, mid 1 theory, mid 2 practical, mid 2 theory, sessional papers. Every exam that happens in our college is set into difficult level and the semester papers come from IIT.

Night Life

The college is closed by 5.30 after which students go back to their respective places and can do whatever they want. But mostly their are alot assignments given which have to completed and otherwise their will be exams going on.

From 6th semester students become eligible for campus placements and there are plenty of companies that come like in my branch there 35-40 companies (core) came and no of offers were 30.Placement percentage was around 95%.Median package was around 7.5lpa and highest was 15lpa.Well my plans are not decided yet, currently in my 2nd year.

Placement Experience:

from 6th semester the student become eligible for campus placement.Companies like google ,microsoft , apple etc visit the campus.the highest package offered around would be 50 lakhs and lowest would be 5 lakh.around 70 percent of the student get placed.i want to get placed and do the job then slowly i want to start my editing agency.

The placement of the college is not that much which I expected but not also very bad the highest package of the college is around 51 lack and the average package is like 11-12 lack and the median of the college is 10 lack pretty much good and placement percent is around 88 percent of students placed every year

Not an Ideal college for campus Life

Placement Experience:

Campus Placements starts after 6th semester and majorily mass recruiters visit the campus and there are more opportunities for the cor branchs as compared to the non core because of the presence of many industries in the nearby areas.For this year, 12lpa is the highest placement in Commvault but the total placement is only around 50-60%, so my plan is to try getting off campus opportunities by the end of my 3rd year

Course Curriculum Overview:

Personally i opted for electrical and electronics instead of the branch of my choice is because my scores were not enough to secure a seat in CSE. But EEE is pretty cool as well for those willing to grow in this branch. Our curriculum exposes us to the rapidly growing sectors in the industry and educates us of all we need to know about the course in depth. If you want to continue ahead in a research field, this Institute is the most supportive. The exam questions are also relevant enough and considering we only need to actually stress over end semesters, its fair enough per semester. It would be better if our professors removed the attendance criteria rest im fine with everything else

So I take admission through WBJEE in IEM KOLKATA in B.tech in electrical engineering. So now I talked about eligibility criteria:- You should pass your +2 from any board with a maximum of 60% Admission in this college is 3 types WBJEE, JEE MAIN, IEMJEE all three forms you will get notified by college dunia if you have an account in it. So the IEM KOLKATA is one of the best private colleges in Kolkata and you can say in India also so the cuttoff goes very high you have to get minimum rank for this college. Review of My IEM University

When I was searching for the best college to get the admission, some people told me to try for Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM) and after I got admitted to this college, I really understood that I selected the right college. I will always prefer this college because discipline is strictly obeyed in IEM and all the teachers are like parents. In 2019, admission was going on offline and it was held around the month of July. This year, due to covid pandemic, the admission process was held around the month of October and from 2nd November, online education started for the first year batch. According to me, the one and only bad aspect is that every semester, Rs. 65,000 is to be paid by each and every student to continue with their education which is quite high according to me.
