Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I was interested in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The curriculum helps prepare our basics for real-world applications and we need to learn more after that too in order to grab good job opportunities. The curriculum is good for GATE students because it is similar to the syllabus. The curriculum needs to be updated for the newest updates. The exams are held three times in a semester: Class Test 1, Class Test 2 and the semester end exams. The CT1 and CT2 are held in April and May and end-semester exams in June respctively for even semester and CT1, CT2, end-semester exams in October, November and December respectively. The CTs are easy and end-semester exams are of medium difficulty.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements from 7th semester of Btech course. Companies like BigOH, GrowUp, L&T, Rubico, QI Technologies, Mahindra, BEL, etc. visit the campus for on-campus placements and the no. of placements in the year 2023-24 was 113. The placement details are given in the official website of the college. The highest package offered was 12 LPA by BEL and the lowest was 3 LPA. Most of the students go for GATE and don't sit for campus placements. I would go for GATE for higher studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
For Btech students, semester-wise fee structure: University/ Exam fee 3700 (5600 for 1st year 1st sem students) Tuition fee 25000 College user charges 3580 (3880 for 1st year 1st sem students) Caution fee 0 (2500 for 1st year 1st sem students) Alumini fee 0 (1000 for 1st year 1st sem students) Total fee 32280 (37980 for 1st year 1st sem students) For TFW students 7280 (12980 for 1st year 1st sem students) Hostel charges 2480 Mess advance charges 16000 for one semester These are the only fees paid by students and there is no fee exemption for SC/ST/Management (only for TFW) with little or no increase in fee. Scholarships are available for students in every year. Pragati scholarship for 1st year girls, NSP scholarships, merit scholarship for top 10% students in each branch and each year.
Campus Life
The annual cultural fest is Goonj held in May and sports event is Josh held in November. The recommended books for syllabus are available in the campus library. The classrooms have projector, smart board and wifi facilities. There are many clubs in the college like technical team, management team, photography club, robotics club, football club, etc. These help in overall development of an individual.
Hostel Facilities
I reside in the hostel accommodation of the college. In 1st year hostel, there is a shared room for 3 girls. In second year, for 5 or 4 girls and in the third year, for 4 or 2 girls. There is fan facility in New Bhagirathi hostel only. The other hostels Vishveshwarya, Old Bhagirathi and Raman don't have fans. The meal quality is okayish. The menu differs for each hostel. Hostel facility can be chosen during the course registration process. The hostel fee is 2480 per semester and 16000 mess advance per semester. Mess off is provided to the students at the end of each year.
Admission
I applied for this college only as my parents allowed for this one only as it is closer to my home. The college lacks a bit in terms of infrastructure as compared to other colleges in the region. The placements are not good enough. To take admission into Btech 1st year in this college, one needs to give JEE Mains exam and UKSEE for lateral entry and 12th merit is accepted for admission in Biotechnology. The most preferred exam by students is JEE Mains. The cutoffs are given in the official website.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:50. The faculty are very approachable and understanding. Some of the faculties are really good like ML, Mathematics, Chemistry, etc. They help students in every possible way. Some of the faculties are, however, ignorant and don't take enough classes. There are 6 theory exams out of which 2 are electives and there are 3 labs and a internship/mini project. There are 3 exams Class Test 1, Class Test 2 and End-semester exams. The CTs are easy but End-semester exams are of moderate difficulty. Majority of people do clear the exams. The course curriculum is relevant but you need to learn more for future, it is good for basics.
Night Life
The hostel-in timing for girls is 6 pm in the evening and 8 pm for boys. There are many cafeterias and canteens in the campus like Nescafe, Priyanshu, Maddy, Anand Valley, Snookers, Shibu, Kutiya, etc. There is one campus library and an open gym inside the campus. The locality is not safe to roam around in the evening because of leopards.
