Unmaad is our cultural fest and Vista & Eximius are the Business fests. There are ample clubs and societies in which students can take part based on their interests.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facility here is very good. All the facilities are well maintained and the plus point here is that everybody gets a single room, so no issue to your privacy. The new blocks have rooms which are no less than a hotel. The mess food is good and menu comprises of food across all the parts of the country because we have students from all over India. To promote inclusiveness we also host national integration dinner here at IIMB.
Admission
The admission process of IIMB is done via Common Admission Test (CAT). Students need to clear the minimum cutoff percentile in 3 sections ( VARC, LRDI, QUANT) and also the total. Then IIMB issues interview call for the shortlisted candidates. Followed by which students are called for personal interview a writing assessment test. After the entire procedure a composite score is generated comprising of several factors including - 10th,12th and graduation marks, gender and academic diversity, work experience, CAT score, and interview marks. Finally offers are rolled out to top candidates. I choose IIMB over other B-Schools because of its legacy in education facilities, vast alumni network, and startup incubations. Being situated in the silicon valley of India there are also numerous networking opportunities here.
Faculty
The course structure at IIMB follows a trimester system for 2 years. In the first year all the courses are mandatory, though in Term 3 you get to choose 2 elective only for PGP students. Second year onwards, all courses are elective. Each term has a mid and end term examination with a group project submission. Marking scheme varies from course to course. Exams are mid to difficult level and relative grading is done here. Courses are very much relevant to the curriculum to make holistic development of future managers. The faculty student ratio is about 3:1 and everyone of them are very approachable and keen to develop bond with students for deep discussions. The faculty at IIMB comprises of people who have either passed from world wide recognized schools or held leadership positions at big corporate. That knowledge is clearly reflected in their teaching methodologies. The way they blend theoritical concepts with present world cases makes a session so interactive that will make you think from different perspectives.
Interview Experience
Yes we have a written test followed by personal interview for the final stretch of admission into IIMB. For interview preparation I used to read Economic Times on a regular basis and I also took Rodha Interview Prep course for mock interviews.
Night Life
IIMB has a one of a kind nightlife. Our canteens are operating till 4 A.M. to satisfy hunger of the students studying till night. The library is also open till 4 A.M. so that we can access any resource whenever needed. There is 24hr entry-exit in the campus and hostel no restriction on that. Gym and other facilities closes at sharp 12 A.M. There are a lot of good hangout spots and yes it is absolutely fine to roam around the campus, there are security guards at frequent intervals. And yes we do party hard.
