Course Curriculum Overview
My core subjects this semester are Macroeconomics II, microeconomics II and Econometrics I. The syllabus is divided into modules and each module is pretty well structured and informative. We also have the option to choose French or German as our foreign language.
Internships Opportunities
Internship is provided to the students of penultimate and final year. The companies mostly provide stipends of around 20000 per month. The companies coming to recruit for internships are really good. Done examples are the NITI aayog, RBI, EY, Delloit, HSBC etc. You can do this in your summer break. Before that you need to look for internships yourself. Some of our alumni have gone to international universities to pursue their PhDs.
Placement Experience
Our university has a training and placement office for the fourth and fifth year students. Before that you need to find internship opportunities yourself. The significant companies include EY, MoSpi, RBI, NSE etc. The is around 50% placements. The highest package was around 40 lakhs and the lowest 5 lakhs. I plan on working in the RBI after my degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fees is around 1.10 lakhs. The tuition fees is 62880, the hostel fees is 19000, the lab fees and Wi-Fi fees is 5000. The other aspects covered in the fees include the examination fees, infrastructure fees, library fees, gym fees and medical expenses. Additionally you have to pay 3000 per month as the dining hall charges. Although the fees structure is very affordable, there is a scholarship provided on the basis of the results of the first year- 50% reduction in fees for the batch topper, 30% reduction for the topper from Karnataka and 20% reduction for one student from the SC/ST/EWS category. The fees increase by 5% every year.
Campus Life
There are a lot of clubs - the quiz club, the entrepreneurship cell, the drama club, the music club, the sports committee, the dance club and many more. The fest is usually conducted around February. The classrooms are equipped with air conditioning and projectors. It is easy to get into any club you want due to the low strength of the university, also you'll have a lot to talk about in your resume.
Hostel Facilities
The rooms are really spacious and since it is a new campus everything is clean and well maintained. There are 4, double and single accomodation rooms and initially in the first year you'll get a 4 accomodation room. The mess food is not upto the mark but it is just 3000 per month and the food outside is affordable. It is compulsory to live in the hostel till the 5th year
Admission
I had applied to Delhi University and I got selected to a North campus college, but I was inclined towards this college because of the integrated five year course and that it provided a Bachelor's of Science degree. Also, Bhanumurthy sir was our Vice chancellor at the time and he is a really important economist of our country.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is around 1:50, which is pretty good. The professors are good and approachable, except a few. The best faculties are Irfan sir, Sneha ma'am, Balaji sir, Asha ma'am. There were other good faculty members but they left. One is the major issues Is that the faculty is not permanent and keeps changing quite often. I personally do not like Nageshwar sir and Megha Chabbra ma'am. They are incompetent. There are three internals and the two best scores are considered. The internals are of 30 marks and the end sem exams are of 100 marks. The students who do not study obviously fail but overall the syllabus is really good .
Night Life
We have a gym, a cafeteria, library and a common area and a big amphitheatre. Plus there is a large auditorium and multipurpose hall for playing badminton and basketball or watching a movie. The in time is 8pm and the hostel in time is 10pm. We have a market about 1km away, where you can get all the necessary things you'll need. It is pretty convenient.
