Remarks

Though we lacked a proper academic building but that issue has been solved by the new academic building which will be functional by July. I would say that the college provides you a lot of opportunities being it academic or extracurricular. And the best part about the college is that we get a lot of time to do things.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is good and up to date with the modern advancements. The exams are taken twice a semester, mid term and end term. The mid term is of 30 marks and the end term is of 50 marks. The extra 20 marks is distributed into 3 segments. 5 marks is for assignment, 5 is for attendance and the remaining 10 is given on the average of 5 class quiz each of 10 marks.

Placement Experience

5

The placement is the main aspect of the college. Every year at most 90 percent of the students are placed. The average package overall is around 7 LPA with Computer Science having the highest average package of 9 LPA. The college itself doesn't provide internship but companies come to recruit for summer internship in the third year.

College Events

5

There are three fests celebrated in the college. Urja is the sports meet that is celebrated annually in the month of November. Then comes Culfest which is the cultural fest celebrated in the month of February. The third is the techno-management fest Ojass which is the second largest technical fest of East India.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees is feasible and there are options for fee remission for economically backward families. For families having income less than 1 Lakh per annum then only 1/3rd of the fees is levied. The tuition fees is ?62,500 and the additional fees adds up to around ?90k per semester including hostel charges and excluding mess.

Fees and Financial Aid

I personally haven't taken any loan but i can tell something. Banks such as Punjab National Bank and State Bank of India provide a loan with less interest. There are also scholarships for students which are listed on the college website, www.nitjsr.ac.in . Company like Cummins also provide scholarships to students with good academic and who come from a economically backward family.

Campus Life

5

The labs are equipped with all the modern equipments. Sports like basketball, volleyball, football, table tennis, lawn tennis, badminton, cricket and hockey are played here. The campus has a cricket ground, two volleyball court, three basketball court, one hockey ground, two indoor badminton court, two lawn tennis court and a plenty of table for table tennis. The Cultural and Dramatics society handles activities like singing, dancing, drama, acting, poetry, etc. We have a photography club, debate club and plenty more club that helps the overall development of students. We then have the technical clubs. Be it an aeroplane or a off road car or a solar powered car we make them all and participate in competition and win them too. This year the RC Aeroplane club i.e Phoenix won the first prize in design report in an international competition held at California.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel is compulsory for all students. I would say NIT Jamshedpur has the best hostel in India among all the government engineering colleges. We get single room with attatched balcony with a cupboard, bed, a chair and a table. All four years we get a single room. The rooms are equipped with a LAN port where you can get a 100Mbps connection. The hostel fees is included in the additional charges during the institution fees. We have to pay additional fees for mess that is also compulsory which is around ?15,000.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumini network is very strong. Every year an Alumini meet is organised. There is a separate club known as I&AR which handles the alumini activity. The alumini help a lot and they interact with the students. The seniors are the most helpful people in the campus. Apart from the academic help they also provide help in matters such as placement and they tell us what to study for getting a good job apart from the college curriculum. They are very friendly and supportive. We could contact them even at the middle of the night if we need any help and they are ever ready to do so.

Admission

First we have to answer Joint Entrance Exam Mains conducted by NTA. In accordance to your score a rank list is generated. Then comes the seat allocation in which you have to sort and list down the colleges according to your priority. The college is selected according to your rank. Then we have to report to the college for the admission.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum exam ready for students of mechanical engineering it focuses on industrial level exposure and for other competitive exams like gate and IES with good faculty who teaches almost all concepts. There are labs for each subject in which we get real world application knowledge. Also course is updated regularly as per the requirement of industry . The course can we improved by making course more practical rather than a writing all things on practical it should include project for students. Frequency of exam is that in every 15 days there is a exam with moderate to difficult level.

Placement Experience:

Students from semester 3 are eligible to sit for campus placement. There are even some companies which ask for fresher where student of any semester can apply. The specialised course like CA CS MBA has more placement opportunities. Many companies visits like GARNIER, TCS, GOVERMENT COMPANY _JHALSA. recently around 20 Students are selected in TCS with pacakage of INR 3Lakhs . There is no percentage requirements. Every particular can sit for campus placements. It depends on their skill and ability to impress the interviewers so that they can be placed. Basically there is Group discussion(GD) round and personal interview (PI)round which after qualifying one can get placed in the companies.

At BIT Mesra third is like full of practice for placements and final year more of placements activities than studies. So, when all these things are in order placements obviously will be more or less certain and here they are certain only with almost 90% students are places through campus with annual placements of 8-10 lakhs per annum.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was very fond of mathematics in my intermediate times that's why I chose to do my graduation from BSC Maths Honours. But I chose the wrong college for doing so, which overall ruined my life. After coming to this college, I lost my interest in studies and this is the only thing I gained from this college. So, I would recommend everybody to stay away from this college.
