Likes
- Faculty Response: All the faculties are very co-operative and helpful in nature and they encourages us to try new things.
- Best yet Affordable: This is best private engineering college in West Bengal yet quite affordable than others.
- Central Library: Campus has a very beautiful central library with the capacity of 300+ students equipped with centralized air conditioner.
Dislikes
- Fest: There is no fest took place from the last 4-5 years(i.e., Cultural, & Tech fest).
- Canteen: Food tastes really good but our canteen has shifted to the main playground which is kind of unbearable in summers.
- Assignments: There are lot of assignments given by the teachers but they will also helps you with your doubt at any time.
Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum-wise, I think this college has done a great job by including the relevant subjects. This not only prepares us for theoretical exams but also for real-world applications. Such as teaching ML helps to build projects to solve real-life problems. More or less courses are fine however, teachers can make little efforts towards making students gain some knowledge rather than just doing great in exams.
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester students are eligible for placements. However, they can do an internship in any semester. Companies visited: TCS, Infosys, Deloitte, Capgemini, Wipro, etc. Highest Package: Rs. 15Lakh Average Package: Rs. 3.5Lakh Percentage of the students getting place varies from department to department, for CSE it is: 80-85%+
Fees and Financial Aid
Total fees payable at the time of admission(includes 1st-semester tuition fee): For General/ST/SC/EWS: Rs. 1,02,700 For TFW: Rs. 42000/- Semester-wise Fees(2nd semester & onwards): For General/EWS/ST/SC: Rs.69,500 For TFW: Rs.9000/- There are different scholarships available for students as well such as SVMCM(for West Bengal students) which covers the scholarship amount from Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 96,000 per year.
Campus Life
Cons are the fest. They had not organized any fest for the last 4-5 years. The central library is really vast. It includes a variety of books, from academics to gate/ielts/toefl preparations to magazines, it has everything. It also includes the digital library. The labs are equipped with the latest technologies and all are air-conditioned. However, B-tech classrooms do not have ACs while M-tech classes do.
Admission
I applied to HITK, & Haldia. And in the first allotment itself, I got HITK. I chose this one because of its affordability, location, & review from others. Under webjee I only applied to 2 colleges which are Heritage & Haldia. My first preference was Heritage and I got it in the first allotment. Eligibility: Must Clear Webjee with a good rank(up to 12,000 can fetch you ECE, according to 2024) Should have passed 12th and 10th with over 60% marks.
Faculty
Faculty:Student Ratio - 1:60 Faculties are really helpful. However, some are not. They encourages the student to think out of the box. I really liked Prof. Nilina Bera Ma'am, & Prof. Arunina Tarafdar because they really connect with the students and helps at the time of need. In my third semester, there was a faculty member who taught us R Programming. He was one of the teachers who was not very good to us. Every semester, there's a mid-term exam and four Class Tests. Everything comes from the syllabus itself. There is hardly 2 or 3% of students who might fail the final semester. But this number is certainly very low.
Night Life
It has no gym. Has a great canteen with good food, has 2 cafes inside the campus, along with 2 playgrounds and a basketball court. Campus timing: 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Hostel Timing: No entry after 7:30 p.m. Famous hangout places: Labours ground, Matcha. Since it is quite a distance from the market it is better to stay inside the campus at night(for hostlers).
