Course Curriculum Overview

5

I really wanted to enter the field of aerospace, this rather than choosing bachelor's in aerospace engineering I chose mechanical engineering to get a general view on all the things relating to aerospace and to choose whether it would be a nice decision or not. The curriculum seems to be in a transition state trying to include as much as possible to make us ready for the real world, but there is the a tad bit necessity of improvement still.

Placement Experience

4

There are placements offered in multiple branches, and the highest placement package last year was 34LPA. Multiple companies approach the campus. The major employers are invited to conduct seminars and workshops on Career Development every year. Students are also enlightened about the changing market and employability demands through orientation sessions. Recruitment drive is also conducted by the Armed Forces of India.

Fees and Financial Aid

Here at TKMCE the fee structure is 8k per academic year, this includes tuition fees, admission fees, development fees etc.. The abovesaid fee structure is applicable to students with merit seats those who doesn't have any kind of scholarships. Students with scholarships may have reduction in the payable amount or complete waiver of the fees depending upon the type of scholarship. The case changes with management seats where there is an admission fees which may go upto lakhs depending upon the specific branch the student is looking for, rest of the yearly fees would same as the merit seats.

Campus Life

4

TKM is an institution which is older than 50 yrs which is one top engg colleges in kerala. The alumini of tkm is very vast spread in various fields. College is now accredited by NAAC. The college facilities have been greatly improved in those 4 yrs. Many modifications where done in college all labs got upgraded new equipments where bought. We have projector facility in every class ( some dont work).Every building has gone through modifications. About teaching i say would my branch had very experienced faculties who were helpful. There is a entrepreneur development cell in clg which works very efficiently. Other clubs like film and drama club, photography club etc are also active in college. The STEPS ( students of TKMCE for the empowerment of people and society) has conducted many for charity programs and camps in and out of college. College has a volleyball court, basketball court and a football ground. There is canteen, a co-operative store and coffee outlet inside the college Hostel- Girls hostels are modified and have good facilities. Every girl is availed rooms. Even though few prefer to stay at outside hostel. Boys also are provided with hostel but about a quarter them has to stay outside. 1st yr students have seperate hostels. In girls hostel most of them is 4 sharing very few is 3 sharing. Hostels are kept clean. Hostels are provided with wifi rooms( Not available in rooms & speed is sometimes slow). There tv in every block. Any complaints in hstl is addressed. Mess menu is decided by students (feast is arranged by students during festivals). Hostel life is fun. Placement- A every effective placement cell headed by a faculty. Even though core companies every dept is not coming still the year i passed out the placement where very good in number. Many major companies are coming to recruit.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel facility is available for most of the students, those who are not able to get in, tends to go for private accommodations. The hostel food are not upto the mark. Upto five students live in a single room.

Admission

I came to this college considering all the aspects such as academics, placements, package, student culture, societies, clubs etc.. Even though there are better colleges the student culture and faculty members seemed to be better in this college.

Faculty

4

The faculty ratio differs for mechanical branch is 1:70, where there would be one faculty for each subjects addressing a student croud of maximum 70 students. The faculties tends to be mostly approachable

Night Life

3

There is no night life to be honest, there are curfews in most of the hostels making the students to reach the hostels before the surfew ends which is mostly 10pm( for first years 7pm), but it is for the students good only I guess.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
