Course Curriculum Overview
The course is a bit outdated and needs to be updated keeping in mind today's world. The subjects might not be that relevant and not prepare you very well for real world. The curriculum is okayish and can be made better. Teachers take test mostly after completing a unit and the test is moderately difficult.
Internships Opportunities
Many internship opportunities are available in college as well as around the campus. The teachers also help you get an internship if you are struggling to get one. Paid internship are also available in and around.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placement in the last year. Before that, there are paid and unpaid internships students can do. The placements are average. Highest package is around 20lpa and lowest might be around 3lpa. Average package is around 8lpa.
Fees and Financial Aid
I paid 23000 as my first year's if and it does not increase. All the fees are included in that except Gymkhana and outing. The fees can vary from around 15000 to 130000 per year according to different courses.
Campus Life
The campus Life is quite good. People are quite friendly. Events take place every now and then. The main is Malhar and is quite awesome. Many good well-known artists come to perform. There is also an official outing every semester. The infrastructure is very good. The library is nice. Sports facilities are also nice but can be improved. Classrooms are digital and up to date. Many clubs like XAB are there.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel rooms are limited. Quite difficult to get a room in hostel. Hostel rules are very strict. Students are not allowed to leave after 10pm. Mess fees are not included in hostel fees. There is online application for hostels and it is affordable. There are many good PGs near the campus.
Admission
I applied to DG Ruparel but St Xavier's is better in every aspect and also there are many film or ad shooting going on. The admission process for my course was very smooth. It was based on my CGPA in bachelors. And then an easy interview once your name appears on the merit list. For other courses XET exam needs to be cleared following an interview.
Faculty
The faculty to students ratio is 1:8. Some teachers are friendly and not very approachable. Kevin sir is very good and quite friendly. The exams are moderately difficult. The final exam is 60 marks and 40 marks CIA1 and 2 (Continuous internal assessment), 20 marks each.
Night Life
There are many things to do in and around campus. Marine drive is very near. There are good cafes to hangout. From Starbucks to some quite affordable but very good cafes are there. Libraries are also there. And it's quite safe to walk around even at night time.
