Remarks

I had around 93%ile in JEE, ~4K rank in TS-EAMCET and, 2.5K rank in AP-EAMCET (general category Telangana Homestate), and I also got into Manipal,VIT & SRM (all CS branches), I landed decent colleges with CS branches, but in the end I was gonna choose B.Tech in IT in Andhra University, But I decided to choose Central University of Haryana as I wanted exposure of North India and the culture here. Plus it's a government university (as govt unis are highly valued in India) and the fees is very low 30k INR/semester in tuition fee is very affordable, even Andhra University was good, but I wanted a cultural shift to be able to know the world better. Most Engineering admissions only require you to have best JEE mains and advanced test scores, they don't need anything else, no extra-curriculars, nothing, so you've gotta be the best rat in this artificial rat race to make it into best colleges.

Course Curriculum Overview

1.5

80 students are seated in my class (but my batch is an exceptional case as people with other quotas also had to be accomodated), but in BTech expect a batch size of 60-70, for other courses like MBA except sizes of 15-20, every year it changes and is updated on the uni website. The girls to boys ratio of B.Tech is around 1:15, and overall university it is around 1:4 My batch is again exceptional, as the open counseling was done in online mode hence it is diverse, but usually for remaining seats, locals fill up the open counseling seats due to logistic advantage, my Batch has 25% UP, 25% Bihar & Jharkhand, 25% Haryanvi, 4-5% Bengali and remaining from Telugu States. Peer group isn't the most productive except for a few, it's a very laid back life here, people care more about webseries that have gaali-galoch and politics more than what React 19 has to offer Yes 5 marks are given for attendance in internal 30 marks (that's why most people come) 95%+ attendance-5 90-95:4 85-90:3 80-85:2 75+:1 <70:0 Most students attend only for attendance, real learning happens in isolation before exams

Internships Opportunities

1.5

No, there's no official data on internships & placements yet, but around 80-90% students remain unplaced, people just arrange fake certificates, out of my batch only 4-5 students got paid internships, this is done usually during summer vacation, Software companies are preferred, highest stipend was mine at 60K per month, average is around 4-5K per month and lowest was zero, People prefer any company that is willing to pay them anything In case of my seniors, only 2 people converted to PPOs Civil, Electrical & PPT have better placements & internships stats, but for other courses they are way worse than ours

Placement Experience

0.5

There is no placement data, only 5-10% get placed, lowest CTC is around 2LPA and average is around 3 LPA & some students off campus get 8-10LPA, Any company that pays anything is preferred, Even Mass recruiters like TCS don't want to come here, there isn't any process here let alone transparency or opacity

Fees and Financial Aid

B.Tech is the most expensive course in this university (even more than MBA), But if you compare it to similar Government Univesities and Colleges like NITs, the fees here is much lower, I am attaching the document for all the fees as there are way too many categories, but you could live in hostel or PG, hostel is a cheaper option as it is inside the campus and campus is very big, so you will have to walk over a kilometer just to attend classes, so a two-wheeler (preferred) or a bicycle is important here, Hostel+Mess - around 5-6K per month Extra Travel and eatig out- around 3-4K a month a student would ideally require around 9-10K a month to live comfortably like a king

Campus Life

1.5

There is an outdoor sports complex with a cricket ground, football area & basketball court, in the gyms there are Table tennis tables and in hostels there are badminton courts Yes college has one functional gym among all hostels, cardio equipment doesn't work, weights under 7.5kg are not available (as they were stolen) No swinning pool, There is a library with 50K books, but you can't study there, you will have to get books issued from there and study in seperate reading rooms in academic blocks, Most books are available. And there are 4 mini auditoriums (seating capacity of ~120) and another mini auditorium with capacity (200), this is a big shame for a university with over 7000 students in strength, College campus is 500 acres large, with most of it being vegetation, there are only 4 actual buildings where students study, the administrative block is around 3KM from hostelsmaking it a pain to go there, maybe 50 years from now uni will utilize the 500 acres, most people travel by taking lift and walk, there are only 2 e-rickshaws that run after the drivers are done with smoking hookah and playing cards, Yes you are allowed to keep your own vehicle in the campus Yes there are guest rooms in hostels where they can stay paying 400 INR/bed/day No there aren't any food joints Yes it has a medical center with testing facility, but they have limited facilities and they will overmedicate you for no reason, and they seem to give drip to everybody who goes there just for funNo night life, after 10:30 PM guards will chase you if they find you roaming in the campus, mostly evenings are spent by couples walking here & there, there is a place called Wifi park where most people sit, they either sit in cafeteria or plaza (a place between 4 hostels), there are no hangout spots as such except some restaurants outside the campus, the locality is fairly safe & free from crime, there is a college annual fest called spandan, where a haryanvi singer is invited to sing, only 400-500 students participate it in it and it isn't any good, Gajendar Phogat performed in it, There is only one Coding Club Officially from the university, other clubs also exist but only on paper, Nowadays Google Developer Groups & Coding Ninjas club is active and is growing, there is also another club called ByteCode learners, I think the google club is important, No foreign exchanges, people here think of Nepal as foreign

Hostel Facilities

1.5

Yes girls & Boys hostels are separate, No boys are not allowed in girls hostels and girls are not allowed in boys hostels. there are 4 girls (2 new & 2 old) hostels & 3 boys hostels (1 old & 2 new) New hostels are the best as they are newly built and have gym facilities, old hostels are like haunted houses with horrible maintenance, non-functional lifts & no facilities, but new hostels have 4 people/room and old hostels have 3 people/room, new hostel rooms are marginally larger than the old hostels, hence new hostels now feel cramped. Hostel allocation takes place based on Category & CGPA as there are limited seats Hostel fee is around 12K for whole year (to be paid at once) and mess fee is around 3-4K per month, there are no tiers of rooms, it is same for everyone Hostel timings are 5AM-10:30PM, yes they are allowed to leave late at night provided they submit an application, Hostels have massive freedom Hostels have nearby canteens where students eat, Food Quality varies depending on the tender, there are 2 guards per hostels, and security threats are relatively less, rules are stringent for girls hostels, but boys hostels nobody cares (unless you are caught stealing chairs and spoons) 3 Sharing for old hostels, 4 sharing for new hostels, I chose new hostel due to better feel No AC, No Cooler, You can purchase/rent your own cooler from nearby town & pay 500 rupees/month extra to the warden to use it in your room, You get a study table, chair (everyone gets it) and 3 wardrobes/4people, The quality is fairly okay, but old hostels have decaying infrastructure, We have a common study room with AC & benches where you can study 24/7, common washrooms no attached washrooms, washrooms are cleaned once every week, there are 6 urinals,3 sinks, 6 toilets, 6 shower rooms there are two of these washroom places in each floor, Students stay outside in nearby PGs, now new PGs are coming up with better facilities, they are more expensive than hostel & far away too, hence a vehicle here is a must

Exam Structure

So to get B.Tech in Central University of Haryana, you'll have to give CUET (which is mandatory for all courses), you can also opt for the JEE-Mains Route, half the seats are filled through JEE counseling and half through CUET, but CUET would be better as JEE route is competitive as many kids apply in it, and CUET route doesn't have all that much competition for B.Tech Central University of Haryana Cutoff 2024 for CSE Seat Type: Opening Rank | Closing Rank OPEN: 34174 | 46408 OPEN (PwD): 2199 | 2462 EWS: 7640 | 8344 OBC-NCL: 15003 | 18021 SC: 4663 | 8801 ST: 4448 | 5166 Central University of Haryana Cutoff 2024 for Electrical Engineering Seat Type: Opening Rank | Closing Rank OPEN: 52652 | 62139 OPEN (PwD): 2989 | 2989 EWS: 10326 | 10979 OBC-NCL: 19348 | 21534 OBC-NCL (PwD): 1713 | 1713 SC: 6934 | 10701 ST: 4495 | 5500 Central University of Haryana Cutoff 2024 for Civil Engineering Seat Type: Opening Rank | Closing Rank OPEN: 49810 | 73191 EWS: 12165 | 12714 OBC-NCL: 22616 | 25770 SC: 10751 | 12141 ST: 2646 | 4850

The course curriculum is i would say on a moderate level. Students do fail in the exam for which they have to reappear for those particular papers. Good aspects are the course itself covers all the dynamics of business administration whereas the bad aspects i would say are, since the college is affiliated to Mumbai University, some subjects are a bit outdated. We follow a semester pattern, so 2 exams every year, 4 in total. Usually, there are anywhere between 2 to 3 lectures scheduled a day, each lecture being 3 hours long. Generally, the schedule is hectic, although we also have ample hoildays, so students do get time after their classes. the faculties are very well, as they provide real life problems and solutions, they use the method of giving assignments and using ppts for their lectures. I admire the faculty Prof. Sangeeta Pandit the most, as she is an industry expert and motivates the students to continuously do better. There is a mandatory 75% attendence policy and if students fail to achieve this mark, they are failed at internals.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is designed to teach the basic and fundamental subjects of computer science to students. In each subject, the difficulty level is below moderate. There are some subjects which meet the industry standards and prepare students for jobs in market. But many subjects are out-dated and their syllabus is not upto standard mark of industry requirements. There is an urgent need to update the syllabus and make it more industry demands-oriented. The teaching methods used are good but some updates can make them more better. Less focus is given on practical knowledge and labs. In each semester, you will have sessional exams two times for all 5 subjects. In each year, there are two semesters and in each semester you will havee final exams in the month of December and May.

i think the students become eligible for placements from the 13th term. our first batch hasn't graduated yet. they are due to graduate in 2026. but certain law firms which have visited our college and have offered internships to our students are Khaitan & Co., Luthra, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, IndusLaw. Honestly, I have not decided yet what career i would want to pursue but yes, having a campus placement in hand definitely gives a sense of security. I may pursue an LLM after this or may enter into litigation.
