Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curriculum for BSc is simply the extended version of 11th and 12th standard portions in the first year. It includes the same concepts and the teaching method is rather ordinary and boring and doesn't seem to focus on making the students live the subject but is rather focussed on marks and other upcoming exams. A teacher kept insisting us to do certain problems skipping the others considering the factory that it is very important for a exam after UG. She also stated that everyone are most likely to take up teaching as a job after this which shows how narrow minded and shallow the opinions and minds of the teachers are. This amounts for a greater level of discouragement.

Fees and Financial Aid

I paid 83000 every year which I think is reasonable. This includes all the facilities and extra curriculars. There is a lot of scholarships available for students under certain conditions like salary, mark and etc as well.

Campus Life

3

Ethnic day and Bhasha utsav is one of the most famous day for celebration in christ university which every student looks forward to. It does not encourage the celebration of other festivals like pongal, diwali and etc unlike other colleges. There are numerous clubs initiated by the students and give the freedom for them to join as well as start any club as per their choice. There is poor focus on sports in christ which I think university should look upon.

Admission

I have applied to lpu and amritha university other than christ university. I was offered the courses I had opted in all the three of them. Lpu is one of the renowned colleges for its placement and campus life. While amritha is also a celebrated college among the south indians for its infrastructure and student community. But I chose Christ Central campus because it is situated in the mid city of bangalore which gives a very diverse community and opportunity. Christ college is known for its extra curriculars, student life and academic excellence and intelligence which made me confidently choose christ over other colleges. The admission process of christ was quite different, for a few courses it required both written exam qualification followed by a one on one interview. For the course I opted, we had only a interview which was moderately easy. The eligibility is 75 percent in 12th. Talking about the overall academic experience, it lacks a lot of resources and opportunities but I could see the flexibility a greater advantage

Faculty

4

Some of the faculty members are really friendly and genuinely hope for you good future while others are irresponsible, rude and narrow minded. The marking scheme does not test the true knowledge that include analysing and applying it. Teachers don't teach with lots of enthusiasm or interest and sometimes look down on students where they actually should be helping them discover their talents, positives and negatives. The aggregate attendance for christ university is usually high than other colleges which is 85 percent. And even a 0.5 percent below that would attract a charge of 2000/- per student.

Night Life

4

Christ campus and the area around the campus is wells fited for student life which gives a safe environment for them to roam till 1 am in the morning. There are lots famous places around S G Palya for food and hanging out with friends. Famous food places like Salem brothers , Jose mess, juice stall, Crazy wings, Kannur food point, etc. the night life is so good and is student friendly. There are police at night that doesn't fail to keep an eye on the street

Our curriculum includes syllabus in regard to that of National Education Policy scheme where in we have 2 core subjects. I chose biotechnology and genetics since it something I really look forward to pursue as my career in the field. We had one subject as open elective which enhanced our curriculum since we could choose from various course every semester. The university exams however were conducted for 60marks as theory and 2.5 hours for the same which can be extended to 3 hours

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements right after completing their B.Math(Hons) degree, i.e after their 6th semester. Companies like Microsoft, Google, LinkedIn, Wipro, and other Multinational Companies visit and every student gets an offer from one company or the other. The package ranges from 10LPA to 25LPA. Those students who opt for placement after their B.Math(Hons) course is over, all get a placement offer while most of the students prefer to continue their Master's Degree. I too would like to complete my Master's Degree after my bachelor and think about further options thereafter.
