Life at Shyam lal college shahdara

The curriculum provides a great knowledge about how politics as a discipline is based around the reality of life. The political theory brings out the conceptual knowledge about liberal and other such ideas while the political thought brings out the ideas of ancient thinkers like Plato, Aristotle and also ofmediaeval thinkers like Machiavelli TH green etc. there is also Indian political thought providing great knowledge about the political system of ancient India and how the makers of modern India thought about the political society as a whole.

The year wise fees was 16000. It depends on the course we are applying for and it is higher for the BSc courses as it involves practical work. In my case I had JKPMSSS scholarship which made the education almost free throughout my college years.

There are different college societies that one can join. Our department society was named Republica. I got the opportunity to lead it as the head of event management. The college faculty also provides the opportunity to the student to come out with newer ideas of their own and they can put forward their ideas when it comes to extra curricular activities freely

I took admission through the scholarship scheme so the college was actually alloted to me. Albeit I had also applied in other colleges but out of them it was a better college and the experience was full of easiness. Usually the cutoff of this college is less than the other prominent DU colleges which makes it easier to get admission here

The faculty to student ratio was around 1 professor for 10 students and there are also tutorials that take place which acts as a ground for kind of extra doubt sessions. The faculty had good teachers like Professor Deepak Kumar and Sitaram who explained the concepts in good detail and also shared their experiences. There are exams every semester and total exams are of 36 subjects.

The nightlife is not feasible as the area shahdara in which the college is situated is a kind of secluded area with zero nightlife. There is no hostel and students like me lived in PGs which are quite available freely in the area
