Course Curriculum Overview

4

The coursework, as far as the MSc is considered is very congested with too many papers per semester including a year of dissertation project and a mandatory internship. Although the course are designed to tackle all the present-day problems, but its more elaborate than concise.

Internships Opportunities

4

The career development centre provides paid intership to students after taking interviews with various companies. Apart from CDC, the departments also arranges for unpaid interships to students to various PSUs, other institutes. They also take internal students as interns also.

Placement Experience

4

The placement comittee provides good amount of placements with good packages. Although more placement is needed as student intake increases every year. Apart from placements, the institute takes students into PhD courses.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are paid semester-wise containing fees for mess, hostel accomodation, hostel overhead, exam, internet, medical charges, lab contingency and others. The maximum amount of the total fees per semester accounts from the mess, hostel accomodation estimating around 32 thousand rupees, others including tuition fees accounts for the rest. In the first semester, at the time of admission, the outstanding fees was around 58 thousands for General, EWS and OBC, that for the SC and ST was around 55 thousands. The institute takes 6000 rupees during the admission as refundable amount.

Campus Life

4

The institute organizes Durga puja, Diwali, national festivals like Independence Day and Republic Day. Also they organizes annual sports meet, inter-IIT, General Championships, Spring Fest and Tech Fest. There are many clubs and societites for student interactions

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel provides sufficient amount of ammenities for the students. The rooms are double sharing with triple sharing guest rooms, where sometimes regular students are also accomodated. The hostel provides purified water facility, washing machine facility, hot water facility throughout the year. The mess food is average with regular issues of food.

Admission

My reasons for choosing this institute over many others are presence of very good lab-facility for the subject of my interest. Also its near to my house. The reputation of the institute is also quite good

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio is very poor, with significant lack of faculties. The faculties are helpful toward the students. Each semester spans around 3 months of classes and a month of exam including one mid-semester exam and an end-semester exam. The recommended ratio is 3:5:2 for mid-sem, end-sem and attendence and class performance, respectively, but its flexible to the faculties.

Placement Experience:

Actually this is a general degree University , so I must mention that placement facalities are not so good. But yes , Job Fair is organised in University by some external agencies which offer jobs varying 2-2.5 lakhs per annum . But in the university most of the students do not accept that jobs. Half of the students are more interested on the higher studies. So ahet completing the fourth semester they prepare for PhD. And the another half are preparing for central government sponsored exams like CGL, CHSL, RRB, SBI , IBPS, LIC etc. University has a significant number of students who have qualified for Government Competitive exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My decision to choose this course depended on the fact that this course provides you with the opportunity to get various jobs in the industries with a high lpa. But this college does not help much in that aspect. All I had to do was myself. It is my humble opinion that the institution should improve its guidance in the area of its teaching methods. The exams were twice a year and were quite difficult on their own.

From the 2nd last semester, that is the final year, students become eligible for campus placements. Last year, two of our seniors got placed at Reborn Child Development Centre (Durgapur and Asansol) with an average package of Rs 200,000. This year, three students of our batch, including me, got an internship for three months at Reborn through an in-person interview.
