Likes
- I liked greenery and cleanliness maintained in the college. Our college is completely neat and clean and have lots of tress, planes and grounds.
- I liked the behaviour of the seniors towards freshers. Everyone in the college is helpful and kind. Yes you'll find every type of people every where but, our college is really safe and secured.
- I liked the extra curricular activities in the college. Every society member is hardworking and curious.
Dislikes
- I disliked the high fees of our college. For the same facilities, north campus colleges fees is very less than compared to our Shyam Lal College.
- I disliked the speed of teaching of some teachers. There are few teachers who just teach to complete their syllabus in less time and don't clear much doubts of the students.
- I disliked the gender ratio of the classes. There are mostly 10-25% girls in the classes and this makes most girls leaving classes or withdrawing their admission.
Course Curriculum Overview
I believe that if you go to college after preparing for the day and revise all the topics studied that day daily, then, you can easily score good marks as I did. I chose this subject because I wanted to complete my graduation in science stream. Yes, I will agree that our course curriculum is not much related with real world applications and more it is theoretical based. Exam level is easy to moderate and we get mostly 3 hours for the exams.
Internships Opportunities
Our college provide internship opportunities for second and third year students. Internships include training and certifications also. Students who participates in these internships gets 5-7k per month and work for 8-10 hours every week.
Fees and Financial Aid
For my course B.Sc Physical Science with Chemistry, first year fee is ? 26,700 and for second and third year, fee is ? 25,700. Fee is same for every category student. These fees contains all the extra charges like lab fees, admission fees, tuition fees etc. Yes, our college provides fee concession for below poverty students and also provide financial aid/scholarships. If you score 8+ CGPA, then you become eligible for the merit cum scholarships also. Yes, I will say that our college fees is more than compared to north campus colleges of Delhi University. But, if you scored low marks in CUET and didn't expecting to get a north campus college, then, Shyam Lal College is a great choice!
Campus Life
Overall Campus life is great and amazing. You can join societies as per your interest like music, drama, business, poetry etc. Our college library is one the best places I found in the campus area of 7.5 acres. Our library is fully air conditioned and contains all reference books of each subject. There are many fests and events organized every year in our college like Dandiya night, Festive Celebration etc.
Admission
You can get Shyam Lal college only by your CUET marks and CSAS seat application system of Delhi University. If you have scored low marks and didn't expecting a good North Campus College, then, Shyam Lal could be a great choice and life changing moment for you. Yes, it's an off campus college with high fees but it is near to Welcome metro station and there are all facilities available you need to survive!
Faculty
Mostly teachers are good and clear every concept in detail. Yes, I didn't liked few teachers because of their behaviour towards students. Teachers try their best to complete syllabus before the examination and take multiple tests for practice. There are many teachers I liked and learnt a lot like Sandeep Kumar Sir for Maths (Calculas) and Padma Dechan Mam for Chemistry and few teachers I didn't liked and I don't want to write their names because I don't want to insult them publicly. Our syllabus and level of exams is really easy and every average student can easily pass exams. Few students gets back in some subjects because of some reasons but I don't think that there is something about faculty or syllabus to fear about.
