Remarks

Well you need to very lucky to have been a part of Sri Venkateswara college.Only think we missed back then was auditorium and hostels which am sure are there now.A very positive and caring vibe you got.Reddy Sir our principal in last few months invited me to share tirupati prasad he got that was the level and depth of community interaction and love.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Actually the learning was definitely industry specific in courses that were directly linked to industry and the curriculum too was relevant but Botany per se was not taught keeping in mind the industry, for catering to industry the college had Biotechnology and Electronics as options which were hot favorites.

Placement Experience

4.5

The college made us feel motivated towards a career but never pushed so aggressively that students buckle under pressure. The placement was at our times around 80% depending upon your competence and drive to work.Placement Drives were not a common occurrence back then. But yes awareness with respect to options was created by teachers in classroom discourse.

College Events

4.5

Well the college had different clubs and used to be brimming with activities.I particularly participated in dramatics club activities and in our festival Nexus which was a treat to be a part of.Also was the Vice President of the college in the year 1993-94 and contributed in championing and having the Girls Common Room in place at my college.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees was very nominal, not a burden on my parents.Nope no over the counter or additional fees.No bad experience at all.It was very student friendly.Yes we were given the fee breakdown in the college brochure at the time of admission and the fee receipt too.Refund of security was also processed in a time bound manner.

Fees and Financial Aid

I would have gone for an educational loan as for students in case the scholarship or freeship you miss owing to numbers trying for it being high or you not meeting the criteria then that is the best option on board.

Campus Life

4.5

It was a very open space where we had a lane called the romeo lane wherein couples dating were seen chatting. We could also see diverse sexual orientations there without anyone judging or disturbing their peace.I never ever felt being judged as a woman,we interacted at a human level very openly and cordially. The labs were well equipped and well ventilated,it was a treat to cobduct experiments under the supervision of teachers especially like Prof.N.V.S.K Prasad and Prof.Kavathekar who taught Plant Physiology and Plant Anatomy. In Zoology Prof Reddy was a treat to be mentored by.But Hats off to our Principal Prof. Krishnamuthy who cared for us and we fondly called him Panther because of his eye to catch anyone bunking and speed of walking while being on rounds. No hierarchy,we could walk to his room just like our teachers if need be.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

No there was no hostel facility back then. Therefore the question of availing it does not arise, moreover I was just around 10Km from the college and there were public transport buses plying to reach comfortably.

Alumni/Alumna

I have yet to begin that. But some are there on facebook and it is a treat to connect.the alumni network is pretty active on the whole which can be seen on the college website too.

Admission

Parental Pressure to Study Science, which was not negotiable inspite of my trying hard to convince that I would enjoy pursuing Sociology or History as subjects. Finally I decided not to go to a only women college in this bargain and chose my college it being a Co.ed college as I understood that interaction with both the genders is always healthier as was my experience in schooling. And of course was closer home with established reputation with respect to excellence in academics.

Faculty

4

A group of around 20-25 total teachers taught me in the three years including in subsidiary subjects of Zoology and Chemistry and compulsory elective of English. The average age was around 50 years and 75% had profound knowledge and clarity of the subject they were teaching. Most were thorough academicians.

The students become eligible for placements after second year or even third year. Companies like Google, Deloitte, KPMG, HDFC Bank, Maruti Suzuki, McKinsey, etc visited our college for placements and recieved over 200 placement offers in the latest year 2025. Highest package of Hindu College is 36.5 LPA and the average package is 11.4 LPA. Hindu College has a high placement rate of 95% of eligible students securing a placement here. My plan is to prepare for UPSC or SSC-CGL after my degree.
