What Students Say
Likes
- The things I liked the most that the college is in Southern part of Delhi so there's lot more crowd than expected.
- The faculty is good and the classes are being held regularly and some the professors are too cautious about the students welfare.
- There are many societies in the college to join in. You can gain a lot from them.
Dislikes
- The college is beside the main road so there's always noise from outside vehicles in the classroom distrubing us.
- The campus is too small and there are no playing fields or a proper sitting or relaxing place.
- Canteen is not so properly developed. There's delay in food making and the space is insufficient.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum and comprehensiveness can be a point of discussion and as personally I wanted to opt a civil services future so that's why I thought it would be good to go for Ba hons political science and I'm not regretting my decision now. The curriculum is very theoretical I guess so it doesn't really prepare for the outside world but it can surely enhance your understanding and known and speaking writing skills too. The papers should be more practical according to me. Instead of making you write 10-13 pages in examination instead they can give us some practical work to do. There's a lot of room for real improvement. Semesters are held in six months so it is a good approach. Difficulty level is moderate so no worries about it.
Internships Opportunities
The internship facility is good in the college. The training and placement cell in the college takes care of all these placement and intership matters. Some of the companies which offer internship opportunities are Opinia360, SypliteEvie Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Echho, PosterGay, Gaadi Fix ,Edleman, etc.
Placement Experience
I think from the Semester 5 students can expect to get campus placements. Some of the top companies that participated in the 2023 placements include EY, ICICI Prudential Life, and Snapdeal. The average package of the college is around 3 lakh per annum and highest is 7 lakh per annum. 340 students of different streams were registered with the College Training and Placement Cell for College Placement and 215 students for college internship. Out of these 127 students selected for campus placement and 84 students got College Internship.
Fees and Financial Aid
I paid around 11000 for my course and fees varies according to the course also. Some courses may have high fees than the others but some will have low fees depending upon the course. Maybe the Sc and St have low fees but as it is government college and purely based under the Delhi University the fees is low only compared to other private institutions. If anyone is financially unstable Delhi University runs a program for economic help and after submitting some documents children can benefit from it who can't afford the college. There's no other charges other than the admission fees and course charge. You just have to pay one time for a year and that's it. No additional charges for any type of joining in society and any fest. The fee is increasing every year and there are demands going on to reduce it so maybe in the coming years it will be reduced hopefully.
Campus Life
•There are many events and competitions going on in the college and the interested one can make it in them easily. The registration process is not so hectic and they get you reported through WhatsApp groups also. •Talking about the library - it's not a Library at all. You can get issued a book but there's no reading space in library so you will have only to issue that book to read and the choice is not so vast. There are limited books in the library. •Classroom is not so well maintained. The fans are not so viable and what more can you expect in a pure government building. Overall the campus is not so good nor the classrooms too. •There is not a single playing ground in the college. And sports is not a thing in Sri Aurobindo College. There is no sports facility. Extra curricular activities are good by the way. •There are many societies run by the college students which help students in their future endeavours. And some societies work for the welfare of the poor also.
Admission
As Sri Aurobindo College comes under Delhi University so there's a common central examination known as CUET(Common university entrance examination) which is conducted nation-wide. On the basis of marks obtained in the CUET examinations college is allotted by the Delhi University. If you score good you'll be given admission in more better colleges with better facilities. The best score in CUET is around 700-750 out of 800. If you score that much you can expect a good college. I didn't apply for any private institutions. I got this college on a CUET score of 561 out of 800 which is not so bad actually.
Faculty
Faculty to students ratio is somewhat 1 teacher on 50 students which is not so good but not so bad too. Personally I liked the History faculty namely Sachin Sir because he is somewhat too approachable and helps the students a lot. I don't like one teacher who teaches DSC-1 in semester 1 because he is very unapproacable and somewhat arrogant. He's old and doesn't comply with the younger students. There are total of 6 semesters based differently on courses. Some papers are theory papers and some are written. The syllabus is not so difficult and its very easy to pass it. The relevancy of the course curriculum is somewhat indifferent as whatever you have learned in your schools colleges are totally different. You will have to write 5-6 pages for a single lined 5 marks question so you'll have to focus more.
