Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum integrated all the major periods of English Literature, through the entire world. The curriculum included British Literarure from Medieval era to the Modern era, American literature, Classical Indian Literature, Post colonial Literature etc. The curriculum prepares us well for further academic pursuits, particularly PhD. The exams were held at the end of entire semester, approx 6 months. The assignments were taken once every semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
The year wise fee structure for Master of Arts In English Literature at University of Delhi ranged between 10k-20k. Fees for all categories was same, with some concession for PwD students. The course duration was 2 yrs. The fees include tuition fees, university student welfare fund (INR 200), university development fund (INR 1000) university facilities and services charges (INR 1000), fund for economically weaker section support (INR 150).
Campus Life
The infrastructure was good. The library facility was provided. The library had a great collection of books ranging on different topics. They also had a e-book and journal access in the library which the students could access. Several seminars, paper presentations were held which added to the rich culture of DU.
Admission
University of Delhi is a central university with the course curriculum lining with all the major exams like NET, PhD, GATE etc. I only applied at this university because my undergraduation was from University of Delhi. The admission process included merit based admission, based on the scores of UG in English. They also took an entrance exam for PG.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio at North campus was around 1 professor for every 150 students. The tutorials were held at respective colleges, but the lectures were delivered commonly at North Campus. The entire faculty was great, with some great educators with good insights into the subject. The exams checked the actual comprehension and writing skills of the students with a strict policy on plagiarism.
