Remarks

Being a private college under a branding, an environment of class segregation is created throughout the college which is not good for the mental health of students who take admission on the basis of merit. The class segregation affects the academics of the students as well. There is one good thing. There is a faculty feedback system that helps record the grievances of students regarding the teaching staffs and facilititates required measures to change the situation.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is set based on conventional education systems but since my course is a creative course its curriculum should be able to be moulded according to need which is lacking in our curriculum. Same with the exam schedule. There are an internal exam and external exam comprising of theory and practicals/vivas. But the schedule should be customized according to our educational needs.

Internships Opportunities

After the first year, there was an internship program but it was not continued for the later semesters. But my course has a compulsory internship program in the 8th semester which is not always provided by the college. The college only provides if anyone can't find on his/her own. The internship after the first year has taught me many things and gave me hands on experience in an important part of my course of study. But I didn't get any stipend.

College Events

2

My college celebrates events of all ethnicities starting from Holi, Sankranti, Mahalaya, Diwali to Christmas, etc. An inter-Amity sports meet is organized named 'Sangathan' which happens once a year. The college fest is called 'Amiphoria' which gathers a large crowd from all colleges in Kolkata and strives to expand more. The star performances are a huge attraction of this fest.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is no doubt expensive. The infrastructure provided against the semester fees does not seem worth it. If the fees can be considered feasible, if at all, then it is for a small group of students who can rise above the intra-college politics and gain the full exposure provided by the college.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

I availed a 50% scholarship at the time of my admission but the department didn't clearly tell me about the conditions to continue the scholarship which led to the discontinuation and caused me financial problems.

Campus Life

4

There are no such extracurricular activities that are needed for the overall development of the students. Labs posses the necessary types of equipment and they are updated after a certain interval according to changing requirements. Sports are allowed only during Sangathan.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

No, I have not opted for a hostel but being an outstation student I have checked out the hostel and the hostel services are worth the fees. It has all the amenities needed for a moderate to highly luxurious hostel life. It can be compared to no less than a 4 star hotel. There's only one problem that food is not included in the hostel fees and the vegetarian and eggateran canteens are not enough for everyday consumption. Also, the campus being in a remote area it is not possible for students to order-in everyday keeping the budget in mind.

Alumni/Alumna

The college curriculum doesn't let the seniors be very helpful towards their juniors. There is not much scope for interaction between the seniors and juniors during college hours but on a personal level, the senior students are quite helpful.

Admission

I applied for admission in this college way after my board results came out and it was very late by then. Other colleges had already closed admissions and classes had started. Only one exam date was scheduled after my application date. But since I had enough score in my board result to qualify for a 50% scholarship I was called by the admission department and asked to skip the exam based on my merit. I was directly admitted for my course.

Faculty

2.5

The college makes sure that the faculties have required qualifying designations but as the saying goes a good scholar can't necessarily be a good teacher. The teachers need more experiences to actually make an effect.

Placement Experience:

so if we talk about placements, then its currently not good but it does not means that placement is totally zero . it varies every year but currently its going down. so after 3rd year you can apply for internships and placements . and if you are in 1st or 2nd year then you can apply for free or paid internships to learn more and more to build you cv. Highest package offered was 2.68 crore rupees per annum and average package is around 18 - 20 lakhs rupees per annum. companies participated in last session was 61 and total offers made were 700. number of international offers were 19 (6 offers were more than 1 crore per annum). number of students placed in 2023 were 1750. popular recruiters were ITC limited, goldman, sachs, HUL . so those who dont get any job or they are not placed , they basically continue to become enterpreneur. my plans after completing my degree to become a famous architect.

Remarks:

Lots of Freedom. Depends on the student to use it wisely. The college does not have intime, hence people can roam around anywhere nearly any time. This increases the safely issue. Also, due to too much feeedom, students end up in substanxe abuse quite often. It is upto the student to wisely go about the utilise the freedom to build good skill sets and interact.
