Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I think History honours is a nice course if you are really delved into history and curious to know it's comprehensiveness. I've choosen this course because I just wanted to know everything what happened in the past..my curiosity forced me to choose this course. In exams , sometimes timing makes it difficult to write such long answers in a specified time but otherwise it is a nice subject to study.

Fees and Financial Aid

Indraprastha College for women is a semi-government college so it charges more fees than other colleges of Delhi University. In other colleges fees is approx. Rs 15000 but in IPCW it is Rs 28000 approx. for first year . But it reduced in 2nd and 3rd year to Rs20670 . As I am from general category not fitting in the eligible criterion of fee deduction and scholarship so I can't claim for any scholarship or fee deduction scheme . My batchmates in other categories also have the same fees but they can claim for fee deduction or no fee as they are eligible for the income criterion required for this . Delhi university launch this scheme for fees deduction you just need to score good marks and have eligible income for the scheme below 4 lakh. College also provide a similar scheme for fees. Hope this will help you Thankyou!!

Campus Life

3.5

Campus Life is nice , even infrastructure and facilities provided by college are far better than other colleges of south campus as I've seen in video. College focus on every aspect whether it's social or club involvement and but it lack somewhere in sports. It could do much better in sports if better resources and facilities provided to the students . Well attendence creates a problem in the life of sports Person .

Admission

I just randomly made my preference list because I haven't thought that I will come to Delhi but after coming here I release a co-ed college is much better than a girls college because even in terms of extra curricular and fest and all co-ed is much more active than girls college. And it offers a great environment not like toxic girls of girls college, they just keep hating on each other , bullying each other on their back and throwing tantrums unnecessarily. Admission process is so simple just score fine marks and made your preference list accordingly to get into your favourite college. I feel Hindu and Srcc are much better college than all others.

Faculty

4

All the faculty members I got in my semester are very helpful and supportive to everyone. Even you can approach them whenever you need their help, they are not biased towards a single student. And college faculty gave marks for IA/CA that is of 40 marks and they gave it fairly, even help you by giving ab easy work.

Placement Experience:

Dyal Singh Placements aren't that hefty that I can boast a lot about them. Since I have already mentioned in previous section that I want the deepest knowledge of political science and the only way, one can gain that is by doing masters. Coming to DSC placements over 30% students of Political Science from our college are placed via campus.

Media people as Hindi Hons students obviously have chane there or researches. Some even pursue freelance things as college provides the perfect platform to gain confidence and showcase the skills. Otherwise research or political expert roles are the only roles offered to Hindi Hons students. Since I want a complete command I will be doing masters in Hindi Hons.

DSC placements are not that great as around 30-40% students are placed and that is how it is here. Most students of Political Science go for higher studies or get job opportunities in political consultancy or journalism.

For placements, there's not much on campus placement programs. Our placement cells are active though. Time to time they keep us posted about the upcoming internship or job opportunities and even invite various organisations for placements. You can even look for off campus placement programs and teachers are very helpful in this. They even offer letter of recommendation for the internship opportunities upon request.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I love the course I have opted for in the College. I had so much interest in literature since I was in school, hence made the decision to opt for English Honours in my undergraduate degree. The curriculum of this particular course is easy to get, teaches practical knowledge. We have Internal Assesment and Continuous Assessment before theory exams. In continuous assessment, we are given some topic to make presentation or a group discussion from our sense of knowledge and experience. Speaking up in a crowd and in front of the whole class gives the practical knowledge of being there, present, confidence and speak up your thoughts I would love if we can also watch theatre within the curriculum as we read various plays but watching and analysing them would be great. Mostly the exams are held in December and May, they are moderate level of examination and I have found absolute no difficulty sitting in them and writing. We get 3 hours for the core subjects, and 1 hour for our respective VACs, SECs and AECs.

Area that should be improved that is treat every student similarly without any discrimination. Faculty don't even tdke action on sol, IGNOU and NCWEB students. So I think it should be improved firstly.

The course curriculum is relevant to the current aspects of real world. It is also very focused on the practical component of the subject and helps us know how to apply our theoretical concepts in real life. Aspects that influenced me were: the practicality, the relatibiltiy of concepts and the testing approaches as well.

So there is a placement cell here in LSR that serves as a mediator between recruiters and students and provide adequate placement opportunities for students from various departments. Also companies like Blackstone, accenture, nomura come for placements and the highest package that has been offered to a student was INR 45 LPA!

The course curriculum I took is okay considering the low placement percentage from the college's side which is I would say sometimes bad and good at the same time as the students can find their own way around such things. Faculty just complete the topics. we have to study ourselves.
