Know About my college

Placements is one area that requires improvement in our college.Infrastructure-wise students desperately wish for a sports ground on campus.Apart from that our college helps in the progressive growth of students in every other way possible.

Entrance Exam

Our college follows the MAKAUT course curriculum which is very outdated in my opinion.Subjects that are of very little/no significance are taught in our course which could have been substituted by modern courses such as Deep Learning.Instead they teach Principles of Management in 6th Sem to everyone including those who don't want to do MBA.

No internship is provided by our college. You need to acquire one off campus based on your talent and interests.Paid trainings are organised though in which you need to pay to acquire certification.

Placements are average in my opinion. CTS and Infosys are major companies that come for recruitement.Apart from them E&W also recruited in the year 2018.Around 50-60% students gets placed from our department and the average package lies around 3 LPA.

Our college celebrates Tech Fest(Techstorm), Cultural Fest(Elixir), Annual Quiz Competition(Grey Matter) which sees participation from other colleges as well.Juno is an arduino coding competition.Our college also celebrates its annual Sports Day in Salt Lake.

Fee structure is slightly expensive compared to the services our college provide.On an average we pay around Rs.40000 for each semester which amounts to more than 3.5 lakh which is not feasible for everyone to provide for.

Many students avail for the TFW scheme of WBJEE under which the tuition fee is waived off if the annual income of the family is below 2 lakhs.For entering through TFW the rank of the student must be good too as there is a separate ranklist for TFW students.

Labs are well equipped with necessary equipments.The machines run on i5 and dual OS and are interconnected through the college network. Unfortunately we don't have a field on our campus so sports activity is hindered.

Hostel is situated just 10 minutes from the main campus.Infrastructure is well built with basic amenities fulfilled.Food quality is average.Overall hostel is good for anyone who lives far away and cannot afford a home elsewhere.

Alumni of our college is really helpful and visit our college often to organise various events like Grey Matter. Also they come for various seminars and offer advices on career growth which is beneficial.

Exams are based semester wise. We have 8 semesters in total.In each semester we need to pass 2 class tests(25 marks) before appearing for the final semester exam for 70 marks.Apart from theory exam we also have lab exams before the semester ends.

I ranked around 8000 on WBJEE 2016.Based on that the college selection is made and I got B.P.P.I.M.T in 1st round.Although I had other colleges on my priority list but based on rank the seats are allocated to engineering colleges.The selection of college had to be validated from the WBJEE office and presented to the college office where the admission is undertaken.I had to visit the Park Street branch office of B.P.P.I.M.T to finalise my admission and pay the required fees.

Faculty is mixed in my opinion.Some teachers are good and knowledgeable while some aren't so.Lab assistants are helpful indeed and do solve our problems if needed.The faculty encourages students to undertake projects which they personally provide guidance and mentorship to.Our HOD for CSE is an excellent person and is truly knowledgeable and a good person as well.
