Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

As Bcom is usually outdated now and there's not much demand in the job world for just graduates, the curriculum is up to date with the mumbai university and some things are corrected and updated too. The exams are moderate and twice a year and other internals too. Theres improvement in the course curriculum in a few subjects like advertising or foundation course. Certain subjects like economics and tax help students gain real world knowledge and if mastered gets you a great job.

Placement Experience

3.5

The students usually become eligible after the 4th Semester. Placements are offered in various roles im feilds such as marketing, taxation, finance, human resource management, audit, etc The placement percentage may be around 50% Companies like the big 4, reliance, tata, tcs, and other small or medium partnership firms, law firms, have visited the college for interviews. The average package is around 6 Lakh p.a and it might go up too My plans after the degree is to do an internship for the course of company secretary and also apply for LLB

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fees structure for Bcom is around Rs 10,000 and and the average fees for the conplete course is around Rs 35000. This includes exam fees around 1900, activity fees approx 1700, developement fund 650, library fees 900, Icard fees 250 etc The fees might be lower for other category students and there's a minority reservation for gujarati students.

Campus Life

5

The campus life is really great as our college has many canteens, a sports ground, amphitheatre and good libraries. The libraries have a large collection of books of all kinds and past year question papers to help students too. The annual function of my college is called "hooner" and it helps students showcase their talents and it is usually held in december.

Admission

I applied to colleges like Kj Somaiya, Sk Somaiya and Mithibai and i got accepted by all three of them. I chose this college because its convinient to travel and the times are 7-11 am which is perfect for me. As i have daily classes to attend for 6 hours for a professional course this college makes it easy for me to not waste unreasonable time. I didnt choose mithibai due to extensive travelling time and Strict attendance. The eligilbity for my college is 12th pass with merit around 80-90% and lesser for inhouse students too. The admission process was simple online and offline a bit hectic due to bad management.

Faculty

4

K.J Somaiya of arts and commerce has a huge faculty and and various departments for different concerns so it makes it easy to communicate with them regarding a specific issue. I personally like the teaching faculty as they are very kind and always ready to help students. I dislike the management faculty as they seem to make a fuss around admission processes. The faculty to students ratio might be around 1:3. The faculties are easily approachable and the relationship between them is good too. The exams are usually moderate and easy to pass. Around 150 out of 1000 students fail every semester. There are 2 semesters in a year and the course curriculum is upto the mark as per mumbai university

Other Applied Colleges

Mithibai College of Arts | Bachelor of Commerce [B.Com]

As I am doing a professional course as well thus travelling is not tenable for me.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is very good on paper. University has given like 8 subjects from which we have to choose 5. But this college itself chooses 5 subjects and students now have to learn only them ... Like in 3rd year sem 5 there was subject international finance I wanted to study that because baf course is all about finance but the college had subject management. So yeah be prepared for this. My colleges reputation is not that great because other city students come too. So for about teaching it's average

Course Curriculum Overview:

This course is recommended for the students who want to pursue a career in the finance field or if someone who is looking to a course like CFA, this bachelors degree becomes handy. This course teaches you about the financial spectrum of the whole world and gives you an intricate understanding about different financial instruments and their relevance in the society. It teaches one of the most sought after skills in today's world, that is financial literacy. Still I think some of the subjects introduced under the NEP are completely irrelevant such as EVS and IKS. We as college students need to give quality time on some professional subjects, not that these subjects are not important but they need to be emphasised in the early classes. There are three internal exams of 10 marks each and 20 minutes for each paper. The end sem exam is of 30 marks for minor subjects and 60 marks for major subjects. Also I feel that the difficulty level is okay.
