Course Curriculum Overview

4

I opted for the LLB course because its more of a personal preference for me. I've always felt like being a lawyer i could do something for the society. The curriculum prepares us for real world applications as we have internship programmes and moot court experiences. According to me having the moot court compulsory from the first year itself would have been more helpful. The frequency of exams is perfect as their isnt any excessive pressure on students nor does it allows the students to laze around.

Fees and Financial Aid

I'm a final year student doing my 3 year LLB course in Gauhati university. When i took admission there the fees was around 15k, in the second year it was around 10k and now that I'm in my final year the fees is 11210 rupees only. The examination fees that we have to pay is roughly around 1200 . However in my knowledge the BA LLB fees is considerably more than our fees, its around 20-25000 rupees.

Campus Life

5

There are a lot of events happening in the campus, be it cultural or informational. Freshers of different departments as well as the general freshers and other cultural activities are seen often here. The library is full of all the necessary books. Sports and extracurricular activities are given a lot of importance as they are necessary for the growth of a student as it helps in developing the individual as well as leadership qualities of a student. There are a lot of student bodies such as union members or other notary clubs, cultural clubs etc.

Admission

I didn't apply for any other colleges as i was pretty confident in myself that I'd crack the entrance examinations and Gauhati university being a reputed institution and one of the first universities in my region was a primary factor for me choosing to study here. The admission process is quite simple as one just has to pass the entrance examination with good enough marks. However Gauhati University reserves a high number of seats for students of its own and other university students have difficulty to get the seats.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty in our department is comparatively low. They are quite friendly and supportive in the student's endeavours. There aren't any faculty member that i specifically like or dislike because in my experience they are all the same. The exams are difficult although with enough studies and materials id say its easy to pass them. The course is up to date with the current situation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The ULC, GU being one of the premier law colleges in the North Ease of India, I chose this college because of the course structure which prepares students to make a law career for themselves along with the faculty from various esteemed colleges of India which includes the likes of University of Goa, Government Law College, Gauhati etc. The college helps students seek internships with various legal professsionals which prepares the students not only accademically but also the face the practical legal world after college. The courese need no specific improvement but the availibility of a placement cell would had been a great addition to thish college. The exams are conducted half yearly which rigorously tests the students legal knowledge in every aspect.

Remarks:

It is human tendency that we always look for something better, but in NLUJA things seem to be growing at the right pace. Instead of looking for a better management, I think the students' participation and enthusiasm must be encouraged. A college/university is only what the students make it, and it cannot grow until and unless the students take an initiative.

Remarks:

I was a part of this college for 5 years and I know this college well. This college should have an auditorium for conducting seminars and there should be College week so that the students can take part in various competitions. Moreover the library has insufficient books and most of them are outdated as new editions of those books are available in market. There are very limited books. Library doesn't have Manupatra, SSC online etc.and the computers are outdated. The administration is average they fail to respond well at times. The best thing about this college is that it secures 1st position in University results.
