Remarks

I was a part of this college for 5 years and I know this college well. This college should have an auditorium for conducting seminars and there should be College week so that the students can take part in various competitions. Moreover the library has insufficient books and most of them are outdated as new editions of those books are available in market. There are very limited books. Library doesn't have Manupatra, SSC online etc.and the computers are outdated. The administration is average they fail to respond well at times. The best thing about this college is that it secures 1st position in University results.

Entrance Preview

For getting admission in this college I didn't give any entrance. I was asked to show my 12th mark-sheet and after examing it college authorities gave me admission. One can even take late admission without any entrance.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is not the one which can be said to be the best owing to the legal developments in the 21st century. There is nothing called IPR in the whole course which is an essential arena in the modern day. The subjects are given in a haphazard manner. The main subjects like IPC,CrPC,CPC,Evidence Law are provided in 7th semester which creates a lot of problems for the students.

Internships Opportunities

College doesn't provide for any kind of internships. If a student wants he may apply by submitting an application to the Principal and that too takes a long time as the Principal is mostly unavailable in the college. Therefore it's upto the student whether he wants to go for internship or not. I did internship during my 5th Semester at Assam Human Rights Commission. During 6th and 7th Semester I did internship under Adv. Subash Ch. Biswas, Advocate Gauhati High Court and then under Advocate Baharun Saikia, Advocate,Gauhati High Court. I also di internship in the Railway Claims Tribunal but all of them were without any stipend.

Placement Experience

0.5

Placement is a myth for the students of this college. If someone wants to join this college because of placement then it's won't be wise to do so. Only the 1st and the 2nd batch of this college got placements but that to in LPo's. After graduating one can join any Law Firm and also opt for judicial services examination and also for other competitive examinations

College Events

1

Freshers and Farewell are the only two festivals which are celebrated in college that to in the parking lot of the college as the college has no auditorium for holding such programmes. Even during Republic Day and Independence Day no one comes to college and the Flag is hoisted by the caretaker of the college. I visited college on last Independence day and witnessed the same.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure regarding the semester fees not too expensive. I paid 15000 INR per semester but now it's 17000 INR per semester per student. But the examination fees are too way high in comparison to other colleges under the Gauhati University. Even the fees charged for ADR and Legal Ethics field work are exorbitant. The college charges the students 1250 INR per semester for wifi but students cannot access to it as it is password protected.

Fees and Financial Aid

Students can avail scholarships for the courses given by this college but I haven't opted for one. In the prospectus itself it has been mentioned and one can go through it if he reads the prospectus.

Campus Life

1

There is nothing called such things here. Once in a blue moon seminars were held. The authority informs students about debates and the students can participate then. Permission from college again is an essential requirement which can be obtained by submitting an application.I have attended 3 debates one quiz competition and 2 Moot Court Competitions one at State level and another at National Level.Beside this I was given responsibility to hold an Intra college Moot Court Competition in 2016.

Hostel Facilities

0.5

There is no hostel facilities in this college but one can find Paying Guests near the college for both boys and girls at an affordable costs. The food differs from PG to PG as beacause some are professional and some are homely PGs providing very good food. I have expericed it as I stayed in two different Pgs during my course from 2011 to 2016.

Alumni/Alumna

There are some groups in social media but there is nothing called reunions in the college. I have contacts with many of my seniors who has every time guided me and shown light whenever I approached them mentioned may be made of Nirloy Bania and Chinmoy Chakravorty of 2007 batch and Haider Ali of 2009 batch.

Exam Structure

Exams are mostly held late and the results are given after 5-6 months during another semester examination. For Eg. If someone appears 1st semester exam in the month of January then he will receive his results in June when he will be appearing for 2nd semester examination. The examination fees are too high in comparison to Gauhati University Law College

Faculty

2

The Faculty can be said to be average in NEF. Only few handful teachers can be said to be among the good ones. Mention may be made of Anurekha Madam,Kraravi madam, Sushmita Madam, Dafne madam, Moushumi and Mansi Madam. Most of them are pursuing PhD. The LL.M students are taught by the teachers who had LL.M degree till the started pursuing PhD.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The ULC, GU being one of the premier law colleges in the North Ease of India, I chose this college because of the course structure which prepares students to make a law career for themselves along with the faculty from various esteemed colleges of India which includes the likes of University of Goa, Government Law College, Gauhati etc. The college helps students seek internships with various legal professsionals which prepares the students not only accademically but also the face the practical legal world after college. The courese need no specific improvement but the availibility of a placement cell would had been a great addition to thish college. The exams are conducted half yearly which rigorously tests the students legal knowledge in every aspect.
