Nursing in PGIMER

We have very large number of subjects to be covered during our entire course. All the subjects are directly or indirectly influencing the patient care we provide. The subjects start from the basics and towards the end is more focused on specialized care for various individuals . Most of exams are of 100 marks with 25 marks of internal assessment. Internal assessment is based on all the assignments and tests during the entire session. The final exam is for 75 marks and 3 hours. The exam is conducted by the PGIMER being a university. The invigilators are also administrative staff. None of college faculty is there during exams. The exams are uniform and very much relevant to practical skills. We do have practical exams conducted to test our skills. Computer is also being added as a subject to cope with upcoming trends in hospital settings.

The internship is provided to all the students for a period of 6 months in the last year. There is also a stipend of 13,500 per month during internship period. The students are posted in various ward and they have morning and evening shifts pf 6 hours and night shift for 12 hours.

In the last year students start to go to internships. The jobs are provided within pgimer in avrious departments and a average package of 10 - 12 lacs. Almost 70-80%of students get the placement. My plan to work with pgimer Chandigarh after completing my degree.

The tution fee is very less and hike nearly negligible. We have a have tution fees of 850 per year. And a security charges of 5000 rupess which are refundable. An examination fee of 200 rupees is to be given every year for final examinations. The scholarships are provided by SNAI. There is a stipend of 500 rupees per month and a stipend of 13,500 during the internship period of six months. Most of the students get campus placements with a handsome salary.

We heve cultural festa going out throughout the year. All the festivals qre celebrated with a great zeal. We have college and university annual fests with are a great source to de-stress yourself from teh busy schedule. We hace a college and university library which has a large number of books and online availability also. Sports events are also conducted every year. All the fuctions arw organised by the students themselves.

In our hostel rooms are on dounle sharing and single sharing is for last year students. We have to pay a rent of 1200 per year and electricity charges of 250 per year. Th bathrooms are equipped with geysers. And there is a balcony attached to every room. The meal is quite good and its for 1080 per month. We also many PGs nearby.

The application forms are usually available from the month of June. The test is in the last week of July or the first week of August. The test is computer based comprising 100 questions and for 100 minutes. Its MCQ based. There are 25 questions for physics, chemistry, and biology each and 15 questions for mental ability and general knowledge, and 10 questions for English.

Most of the faculty is a Ph.D. . The ones who are masters are also pursing the doctorate degrees. All the faculty has great experience in clincal areas and in teaching. The teachers are very much approachable and nice to students. They hear the problems of students and figure out the solution. Yeb faculty to student ratio is bit high but teachers are best at delaung with it effectively. All the teachers are very good at teaching are specialized for their field. The teachers are very struct about the timings and patient care.
