Remarks

I only have good things to say about my college. I am quite proud of it.

Entrance Preview

This college is one of the top 20 medical colleges of India. The hospital is the biggest in the whole of West Bengal, which is sure to provide excellent clinical exposure to students. The infrastructure of this college is what attracted me the most. The hospital, as well as college premises, are well maintained.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The college comes under the West Bengal University of Health Sciences. The MBBS curriculum is more or less the same and is followed by all the medical colleges of West Bengal. There are internal assessments in the form of items, semester exams and a professional exam at the end of each year.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, just like any other government medical college, there is a one-year compulsory internship at the end of 4.5 years of MBBS course.

Placement Experience

5

Although "placement" term doesn't have much relevance to the graduates of a medical college, I can surely say that I know many of my seniors who have passed MBBS from this college and have secured good ranks in MD/MS courses in NEET PG and AIIMS PG. All thanks to the college for building the foundation of the students.

College Events

5

We are proud of the annual college fest called Crux. It is an intercollege fest where students all over the city actively participate. There is the enthusiastic participation of students from all years and is successfully organized each year. The foundation day of the college is also celebrated beautifully.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As IPGME&R is a government medical college, the fees are very much affordable. In contrast to the lacs of fees demanded by private medical colleges, the fee of our college is around Rupees 4500 per year. The hostel fee is mere Rupees 12 per month. So yes, the fee is quite feasible.

Fees and Financial Aid

Although the fees of our college aren't very high as it is a government college, I have heard about scholarships given to students who need financial support.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostels of IPGME&R are well maintained and regularly cleaned. There are 2 hostels for MBBS boys, 2 for MBBS girls. There is a separate hostel for the pg's. There is no mess but there are 4 canteens in the campus. Food is affordable and palatable, if not delicious.

Alumni/Alumna

Our seniors are quite helpful and so are we to our juniors. I cannot comment on the alumni network as I am yet to graduate.

Exam Structure

As I've already mentioned, under the curriculum of WBUHS, 40% marks are meant for internal assessment and 60% on the basis of professional examination results. Continuous assessment in the format of "items" are held throughout the year. Semester exams are also held at the end of each semester.

Admission

I had appeared for NEET 2016. I also had options for other medical colleges including my state's yet I decided to study in IPGME&R under the All India quota. I got this college in the second counseling. I did not opt for any other college in the subsequent rounds of counseling.

Faculty

5

The faculty of our college is very knowledgeable. At the same time, they are very approachable too, if you have to get any doubt cleared. Modern teaching methodologies are followed, such as visual aids. The classrooms are clean and air-conditioned. The practical labs are well equipped too.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is completely based on NMC new guidelines. Along with the theory classes where we know the structure and their working in dissection we actually see them on cadaver . Lectures should be more interesting as it's get boring to literally listen the concepts for first time like a story and at the end we forget everything

Course Curriculum Overview:

Medical field is a really good field in my opinion to serve humankind and learn about science of nature and life!the curriculum is a little overpaced and there are 19 subjects which are taught in a timespan of 4.5 years which is a bit hectic! There are 4 professional exams and 9 semesters which have pretty good difficulty and assess our skills and education. We have regular examinations in around 4-5 months each. Only thing id like to change in the curriculum is better assessment of many topics which are taught pretty well but aren't examined much leading us to waste our time in focussing on them.
