Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Students have multiple choices when it comes to the course. Even for BA there are different subject combinations. My combination was Human Resource Management + Economics. The teaching method for this course could have been more engaging and practical as the curriculum prepares for real world application. The level of exam is easy to medium.

Internships Opportunities

2

In the initial days of college few groups were made for internship purpose. Many of those were not active. Annually internship fair is held in college. Interested students can register themselves there for the companies they're interested in. Most of the time you need to struggle on your own for the desired internship.

Fees and Financial Aid

Though the annual fee differs from course to course, the charges are quite affordable. Average would be 15 thousands per annum. Besides there had been semester exam fee. It was average of 500 Rs. per semester and more if the course includes any practical subject.

Campus Life

3

The college has got one of the biggest infrastructure among the colleges of DU. Dyal Singh Evening College is a full fledged Morning College. All classes are held in the morning starting from around 8 am. There are two different buildings for morning and evening courses. Library provides books on different subjects, novels, daily newspaper and magazines There are societies for music, sports, drama, arts and culture, dance, north east society, devbhoomi society for students of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh and also the Army and Naval Wing NCC(both senior division and senior wing) .

Admission

In 2021 students were enrolled as per their 12th standard academics. The 3rd cutoff for my course(BA- HRM + Economics) had gone 90% for minimum. There was reservation for few category of students. Now prior to admission CUET is held and accordingly as per its cut off students are enrolled.

Faculty

4

We had a very helping faculty. The ratio of faculty to students would be 1:40 . Teaching staff we got were experienced and well qualified. Sometimes we could not approch but in class we interacted a lot with most of them. All have their own different personality but I personally got more of the good ones.

Course Curriculum Overview:

British classics, Indian writing, postcolonial literature builds a strong foundation in literary analysis, critical thinking, and interpretation, which are useful skills. As for comprehensiveness, the curriculum is quite broad. It covers multiple literary periods, genres, and critical theories over the three years, so you’re not really missing out on the essentials. In that sense, it feels academically complete. But sometimes, it leans more towards breadth over depth you move quickly from one topic to another.

Placement Experience:

There's a placement cell and placement drives do happen in college but genuinely the package offered is not really considerable. After the 4th semester students are considered to sit in the placement drives though I would say it is not very efficient and fruitful.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The curriculum was overall good and being a economics honours courses it was challenging at times. The course offers many things for students interms of their further academic pursuits or any placement they are looking for. Talking about the areas of improvement and teaching methods there are none. The exams of the respective subject are to happen. They take test 1 , test 2 and there is final exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The reason why I choose this subject because I like history and want to know more about it . History have the best opportunities to pursue the UPSC , Anthropology, archeology and we can learn more about historical researches . The faculty im the department of history is updated and well versed in the field of history and have adopted student friendly teaching methods which make me suggest this subject in JMC to the students who likes to pursue higher studies in history. The exams are conducted at the end of every semester with moderate difficulty level .
