Remarks

The management is good but quite rigid. Complaining about something isn't heard easily and takes some time for the action to be taken. But overall, it is a good college for placements and job opportunities.

Entrance Preview

Firstly, it was the top college in my rank. What makes it preferable is its placement record that is quite good with packages going 25L+ every year. Also, it stands among top 5 colleges in the state that puts it under the elite colleges. Being a 1946 estd institution and alumni like Mr. Narayansmurthy - the Infosys founder, it adds to the prestige.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is finely made my expert faculties. Being an autonomous college, our college has its own course curriculum and not the old VTU curriculum. Difficulty level slightly increases each year but it's not tough to cope with the difficulty as you learn to adapt.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, internships are provided by the college in various firms which are associated with the college. The stipend varies from 5K to 15K per month which depends on how good the student is in his/her course and subjects.

Placement Experience

5

Placements are quite good in NIE Mysore. Many big firms and companies visit the college during the campus placement season. Most of the students from the CS and IS branch get placed with almost 100% placement record. The highest package goes as high as 28L and average stays at about 4-5L.

College Events

4

Every year during the month of March/April, the annual college fest called 'TechNIEks' takes place in the college. State celebrities are invited for the fest and students of the college to perform in the fest. Actors and Singers are usually invited to the fest.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For the students coming from out of Karnataka state, it is quite expensive as we are Rs. 1,70,000 per annum as tuition fees and if you include mess and other fees, it goes to about 2,70,000 which makes it quite expensive. For the students coming from KCET exam, it quite cheap as it costs less than 40K for tuition fees per annum.

Fees and Financial Aid

There aren't scholarship options for the students coming from the ComedK exam. Though loan facilities are available and can be taken after some paper formalities from the college and the bank.

Campus Life

4

Campus life isn't that flourishing here though it is okay as a student. You can't expect college life here as in Bangalore. Though the gender ratio is really good here which is about 3:2 ratio of boys and girls. A lot of North India students are also here which makes the college diverse. Entrepreneur, Robotics and Automobile clubs are active in the college who recruit students every year. Joining such clubs makes students quite practical about their subjects and market around.

Hostel Facilities

4

After the renovation of the Boys Hostel, it looks good now. Hostels are clean and have all the facilities including WiFi. In each room, 3 students stay and there are no 2 sharing rooms. The mess food isn't really good. It is just average. Though food is cooked and served in a hygienic manner, it not really good when it comes to taste.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is quite good when we talk about NIE Mysore. Our most successful alumni are still Dr. N.R. Naranamurthy - Founder and CEO of Infosys. He granted funds for the Electronics and Electrical building, for the Library and also for the renovation of the Boys Hostel. Seniors who are working in other companies often visit the college with valuable tips and advice.

Exam Structure

3 internals and 1-semester end exam is held each semester. Each exam carries weight in the final result. Internals are of 25 marks for each subject and semester end is of 100 marks for each subject. Best 2 of 3 internals are taken for each subject, so you need not to give all the 3 internals for each subject if you have scored well in 2 internals.

Admission

I gave the ComedK exam as I am not from the state. State students need to give KCET exam. I scored 116 marks and I got Computer Science in NIE Mysore via Online counseling process. I came to Bangalore, got my documents verified by Comedk officials and then I went to Mysore for admission. The admission process was easy and just took a few hours.

Faculty

4

The faculty is qualified except a few. Many of them did their post-graduation from IITs, NITs, and IISc. They are well aware of the course curriculum and there is rarely a chance when the faculty needs to forcefully push the syllabus for completion. Most of the faculty here is senior and experienced.

Placement Experience:

Students in my college have a very good amount of campus placements where students become eligible from the final year 7th semester however the placement cell starts training from the 1st year means 1st semester itself like training for aptitude test, coding and mock interviews. Top it companies like TCS infosys, wipro, Accenture, capgemini, cognizant, IBM, tech mahindra mind tree. The campus receives 300+ offers. The average package 8 - 10 LPA and highest package 54 LPA. Every year 90% students are placed. After my degree i am planning to higher studies in abroad.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is generally detailed and aligned with industry Expectations but there is still scope for modernisation in certain areas.Overall i would like to rate 8/10. The syllabus include both theoretical and multiple lab components which ensures hands on learning. The practical labs like programming work and project with learning help students understand how concepts are applied in real work places. A few theory heavy subjects feel outdated and no longer match the current industry demand this could be revised or replaced.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements from the 6th semester, but the overall placement scenario in DSCE for CSE is below average. Not even 50% of students get placed in good companies. Most students end up getting offers from mass recruiters or in sales and non-tech roles. Only a small percentage of top performers get decent technical packages. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, Accenture, Cognizant, and a few mid-tier companies visit the campus, but the number of high-package, core-tech roles is very limited. The average package is on the lower side compared to other top COMEDK colleges. Because of this, many students plan for higher studies, certification courses, or off-campus drives after completing the degree. The on-campus placement support definitely needs improvement, especially for technical roles.”

Placement Experience:

The students who are studying in 7th semester ( final year) are eligible for campus placements but before that in 5th semester there is pre placement training like aptitude everything. Top companies visit for placement like TCS , infosys, wipro, accenture, capegemini, IBM, techmahindra, Mindtree. Average there are 150-250 offers. Average package is 7-8 lpa. The highest package is 54 lpa at botify company. 85 % of students get placed at cse branch and ai amd ml and civil 30 - 50% . Overall 80% students gets placed. My plan is join a top product based company liek google with a good life.
