A Balanced Perspective : Pros & Cons Of My College Experience

Dislikes

  • Less Placements : Only few good companies visited the campus as part of placements, but still the opportunities are not too less.
  • Less programs & events : Unlike art colleges, programs conducted are very less.

Course Curriculum Overview :

* I took CSE stream since I liked to learn more about technolohy, and here they provide BTECH course in both CSE & AI. * Even though we have lab practices related to academics, practical experience gained is less, eg.real-world programming. * Improvements include bringing more programs so that it can be a stress-buster for students. * All the exams are conducted on time, which include 2 internals, module tests and lab exam.

Placement Experience :

* Students can attent campus placements from their 7th semester onwards. * Almost 10 companies came for our batch and very few students were selected. * Highest package was around 4lpa and the lowest was 2lpa. * Almost 20% of students were placed. * Since I have got a placement, maybe I will join that or wait for my remaining interview results.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

* Fees : Rs.25,000/year. * Other than course fees, we have to pay exam registration fees, books for assignments & tutorial, lab records, photostat of pdf notes, etc. * 1 or 2 students recieved some scholarship based on their reservation category. * No internships are provided, but placements are there, but not 100% placements.

Campus Life :

* Annual and technical events are very less. For our batch we had overall 2 TechFest (one was in online mode during Covid) - one in 1st year and other in 4th year, and 2 Arts Day-one in 2nd year & one in 4th year. * Library is well-equiped with a variety of books. * The infrastructure of classrooms is quiet good with good facilities. * Sports & extracurricular activities offered is less but not nil. * Activities like NSS programs, college union etc are there.

Admission :

* I got admission based on my KEAM rank in merit. * Admission details can be recieved by contacting the SNGIST Office. * Reservation benefits are there I hope, not sure. * All the exams are conducted on-time, with medium difficulty levels. * As of now, the admission process do not need any improvements.

Faculty :

* Favourable faculty to student ratio , and in my class it was one faculty per subject where the class strength was 26 students. * All the faculties are experienced and with a good knowledge in their subject. * Faculties are very approachable and are available all the time to solve our doubts.

The Semester exams are tough. Electronics and biomedical engineering is a growing field that offers high chances to students in the future. I like how technology and medicine are totally different and we can join this way.

Actually placement cell is a bit week the company's is not that reputed and they offer monthly salary of 12k to 15k. Probably some startup companies. And many students choose that and work for 1 or 2 years to gain experience and then they apply for better opportunities.

As there is a course outcome and course theory all the topics and modules are taken on the basis of this. All classroom are digital and there is proper lights and fans. And because of that it is the perfect environment for teaching and also students to learn.Exams are taken on series levels and semester levels. They are moderately difficult

From the 3rd year onwards we could attend placement interviews and many companies used to approach our college but mostly IT companies as I was in civil dept the construction companies were very less or NIL. In our batch, most of the students got placed and many offer letters but the only disadvantage was the offers were not from the core companies.
