For the MSc degree the complete cost of my education was approximately 200000 rupees, including the semester fee and hall establishment charges. Apart from this there were miscellaneous expenses which are crucial such as personal needs, medical needs, stationary etc. this cost around 50000. The institute offers various scholarships such as inspire, etc. and they also provide financial aid to students in need. For people in PhD there is institute scholarship which is equivalent to that of JRF.

For the course, one must have a bachelor of science degree in physics and must have a CGPA over 6. They need to appear for a joint entrance test for MSc (JAM) conducted by various IIT and IISc. This examination is conducted in the 2nd week of February every year. The forms of the examination are released in October every year. The application fee is around 1800. The exam is conducted once every year and it the difficulty level is a bit greater than average. It requires a preparation of around 6-8 months to qualify with good marks. For the entrance, there is all possible reservations allowed by the government of India such as OBC, EWS, SC/ST, PWD, etc.
