Course Curriculum Overview
No matter how poor the faculty is, the course is well-defined. The syllabus is a but lengthy but quite useful for later educational requirements. But there is anothe rloop hole here. The syllabus of the Department of English shows a list of around 25 courses that they offer the students, but that is just a dillusion. They only offer limited courses with no choices to the students to choose amongst them. There can be much betterment if the department gives more options to the students to choose from and recruite good faculty members for the same. The exam frequency is fine, there are internal assignments and then end semester examinations, for each semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
Everyone knows why students prefer government colleges over private colleges, the major reason is the course fee. The Department of English also is quite affordable in terms of its tuition fees and the department never asks for more money even after the admission. There are no fee concessions for anyone though. There are scholarships for some reserved categories but that is just on the papers, the fee is not refunded in real.
Campus Life
There are several infrastructure issues. The campus is pepetually under construction, with broken walls and a general state of dispair. The worst thing is the limited number of washrooms and their dismal state of unhygiene. The library lacks new books, limiting our access to up-to-date resources. Additionally, there are only a few AC classrooms, making it challenging to find comfortable study spaces. Moreover, the scarcity of social clubs and extracurricular activities has made it difficult to engage in a vibrant student life.
Admission
There are two ways of taking admission in Delhi University for MA English: 1. Entrance examination- till 2022, it was DUET but not it is CUET 2. Merit basis- On the basis of marks in your Bachelor's programme but it is only open for students who cpmpleted their BA English from Delhi University only.
Faculty
There are huge number of students in a class due to which it is impossible for the students to approach professors in case of any issues or help. The faculty is also non-responsive. But the class strength is not much of an issue because ahrdly 15-20 students attend classes that too for the sake of attendance because everyone knows what a waste of time it is to attend the lectures here. The faculty doesn't use any innovative teaching methods to keep students engaged. They either don't come or even if they do, they just simply read out from google and leave. If they don't read from the internet, they simply casual talk in class.
