Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is very well-structured and skill-oriented. Being a Science student, it targets the practical aspects mainly with equips the students with real-world experience. Our exams take place once in every three months

Placement Experience

3

Miranda House offers placement opportunities for students. Aam Aadmi Party, DE Shaw, YesBank, ICICI Bank, UrbanClap, McKinsey & Co. are some of the past recruiters. Most of the students aim for Masters or other competitive exams, many aim for UPSC. A lot of alumni have achieved excellent AIRs in UPSC.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee of the courses is very affordable. For .A. courses the annual fee ranges from Rs.14000- Rs. 18000, for B.Sc courses it ranges from Rs. 18000-Rs. 20000, for B.El.Ed course it is Rs. 19000 and for M.Sc courses it ranges from Rs. 14000-Rs.20000. Scholarships for students with financially weak backgrounds are available.

Campus Life

3.5

Our campus life is packed with fests. Being situated in the North Campus, fests, events, competitions (both academic and non-academic) are extremely common. The annual fest, Tempest is held in April typically and is very exciting. The library is very beautifully made and is packed with a wide range of books, with safe lockers for all your stuff. The sports ground is beautiful, but small. A lot of student-run social groups like the Gandhi study circle, AAVYA-The Animal Welfare Club, and gives students the opportunity to help society while also handling their academic duties. The college is also known for being Bollywood's favorite location to shoot.

Admission

For pursuing B.Sc (H) Botany, the eligibility is having Physics, Chemistry and Biology in Class 12th. For clearing CUET exam, you have to clear the cutoffs in these three subjects and the score from 600 is considered. The cutoff for Miranda House for General category seats was 470+. Something I feel University of Delhi needs to work on is easing out the eligibility criteria.

Faculty

4.5

The facilty members are very intellectual and helpful. The faculty-to-student ratio is generally excellent and manageable. Speaking about my personal experience, the complete ratio in my department is approximately 15 professors for 140 students. The faculty puts in a lot of effort to ensure the clarity pf the concepts without making the lectures too lengthy or intricate. The teachers are very helpful when it comes to doubt solving. They respond within a short time to all the students' queries. They suggest the best readings, provide the best study materialsto make sure you ace your university exams. Miranda House deserves its NIRF rank-1 when it comes to faculty.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The core subjects are very well divided, the main problem arises with the other additional subjects which requires efforts as same as the other subject even though they don't hold any importance as such. Maybe reducing other subject or making them practical based instead of theory based would be helpful.

The Fest organised by this college is Priyadarshini and the annual fest Rajnigandha. The Fest are not great in comparison to other du college and are not that much celebrated. There are many different kinds books present in library like literature,Hindi, Chemistry, Maths, zoology, biology, botany, political science, History Geography the books are only alloted till 12pm and only for 15 days after that you will be charged if book is not returned Sports and Extracurricular are good but classrooms are not that great most projectors in classrooms don't work . There are many good societies in college like jamini the art society and others but joining has caused students to leave their classes which affects them academically

The placements cell Avenues regarding the placement offers coming to the college. Major companies of the job market come to the campus for recruitment like KPMG, deloitte, zepto, EY, ZS Associates and many more. The students from the final year itself gets eligible for placements. Around 30-40% students get the palcements through the placement drive. The highest package during the last palcement season was around 18 to 20LPA, while the average was 7 to 8LPA. I will certainly go for higher studies in operational research.
