Unbaised Review of Stcet college, Kolkata

Course curriculum is decided by Makaut university as our college is under it. They are following more or less same syllabus since 10-15 years I guess. So it definitely needs improvement. Skills like web development, Ai,machine learining, data science should be consideres as they are need of the future.

Placement is decent except this year. As very less company have visited due to recession. Companies like Tcs, wipro, infosys, Accenture, Cognizant visit college every year. Highest package ranges between 12-18 lakhs and average package is around 6 lakhs. 70-80% students got placed last year. But percentage is less this year due to recession. I plan to go for off campus placement if I didn't get the desires amount from on campus placement.

They have increased the fees structure this year from 390000 to 536000. College don't provide any financial assistance but you can avail goverment scholarships like svmcm for you need. But they have limited it to ony state board students in the state. You can also avail student credit card available for Bengal and Bihar students. You get loan at 4% interest rate upto 10 lakhs. So, it can be helpful.

They used to have tech fest every year and now they have started culutral fest from this year. Many books are available in the library if you want to read. Classrom infrasturcutre is decent not very bad or good either. With respect to sports infrastructure you have a badmintion court, table tennis and a big ground for cricket and football. Involment of clubs are negligible for most students. So, you won't have much impact about it in college life.

Admission process was really smooth through wbjee. I didn't have any problem. College authorities were helpful and cooperative that day. You will find every information at the college office from application form, fees and other details. For improvement I would say they need to do everything at one place. You have to go to differnet room for completeing different procedures and it gets really hectic some time.

Maths faculty is good but others faculty really sucks. Some come to class teach only first two benches and leave. They don't care about students seating at back. Some are short temperd and are not ready to cooperate. Even though few are helpful. They provide you with their whatsapp number as well. So I will say its a 50-50. Many of them are approachable at any time of college and even after it on call or whatsapp. Around 40% Cse teachers have Phd so I will say credentials are good but faculty to student ratio needs improvement.
