The academics are very nice compared to other colleges(except colleges which are under NTA counciling )according to me. But implementation is not good. Need improvement in faculties. Also need to stop teaching by guest faculty , students of MTech.

Campus placements are really nice. Many of our seniors got placed in the companies like Oracle, mindsfire,etc... with better package. Some of the seniors didn't get their jobs and they tried for off campus placements. Some of the off campus placements are also notified by the campus placement cell teachers through mail. The other option is studying MTECH. For MTECH they have written GATE exam and performed well.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are some scholarship program from odisha government. Also it is better to decrease fee for the facilities what they are giving. But this college is better for placements. Per semester the fee will be 1,0,5000(mess charges are not included).

Campus Life

Even it is a small campus of 29acrs, the events that are held in this year are amazing. Recently we are done with ADVITA which is a big event in our college, which is wonderful and the guests are also performed very well. The events are very nice. Comming to sports, everyone can participate according to their wish.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel is not good. No A/C. But hostel is compulsory. Mess is not compulsory, we can go outside and we can have meals at there. They will provide a bed, fan, alamar, table, chair and charging socket. There will a water purifier for one of two floors. There are 3 sharing and single sharing room. Single sharing rooms are very less for boys and they are given according to their CGPA.

Hostel Fee: INR 20000 per year

Admission

The admission process was through NTA counciling. The application process is in the website of NTA jee-mains. I am a general category student with 37985 jee- main rank. Our college belongs to Odisha that's why there is 50% state quota.

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

Life at NIST

Placement Experience:

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Value For money college

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.

Placement are descent enogh. After 6th semester students become eligible for campus placement drive and become eligible for internships in 2nd year itself. Highest paid CTC was 39LPA and average package is around 10 LPA.

Comprehensive Review of Campus life at IIIT Bhubaneswar

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placementfrom the beginning of 7th semester. Major companies that visit include Oracle, Media.net, Tiger Analytics, Incture, Quantiphi, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, Informatica and many others. The highest package offered was 24 LPA by Zscaler, while the average package for the electronics branch stands at 6 LPA. This year placements were affected by the recession, resulting in approx 100 students remaining unplaced.
