Comprehensive Review of Campus life at IIIT Bhubaneswar

The course curriculum appears outdated, largely unchanged from years past without updates to meet current industry standards. The lab equipments are also outdated and does not resemble a college-level lab. In fact my schoollab was better than this. There is noticeablelack of focussed preparation for placements, leaving what I am studying largely disconnected from industry relevance.

Internship in 3rd year available only for CSE, IT and CE students. Talking about other branches i.e ETC and EEE, limited to no internship opportunity in the third year. Placements start from 7th semester in which companies offer intern+full time which starts from Jan in the following year.

Students become eligible for campus placementfrom the beginning of 7th semester. Major companies that visit include Oracle, Media.net, Tiger Analytics, Incture, Quantiphi, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, Informatica and many others. The highest package offered was 24 LPA by Zscaler, while the average package for the electronics branch stands at 6 LPA. This year placements were affected by the recession, resulting in approx 100 students remaining unplaced.

The tution fee increases every year. It was INR 75,000 in the first year and rose to INR 98,000 by the fourth year. There is no financial assistance or scholarships for students from outside odisha. Although they mention various scholarship schemes but none are ever sanctioned. Campus placement is average to good which is the only positive aspect

The annual festival Adwaita is held in Februrary. The library while not very large offers a limited selection of books. Classrooms are equipped with projectors but not all have air conditioning. Sports facilities include cricket, football, volleyball, Badminton, tennis ete and an Annual sports events is held as well. There are social groups and clubs covering various interests including cultural activities and coding.

There are two types of room available: a 3 seater and a single room. In the 3 seater room, each occupant has access to individual fans, tables and cupboards with a common washroom on each floor. Water Coolers providing cold water are available on alternate floors along with geysers for hot water. The single room which are more spacious and recently built include all these amenities.

I secured admission through JEE Main, with counselling conducted by JOSAA for students from outside Odisha, while those from odisha have seperate counselling. I obtained admission with 95 percentile in the special round counducted by CSAB

My college has small student-to-faculty ratios in each branch compared to others, ensuring ample teaching staff with no shortages. While the faculty is generally good, some are notably strict, particularly in my branch. Their focus is solely on academic excellence rather than placements, and they are unhesitant in holding students accountable.
