Remarks

The college is very good in terms of infrastructure, facilities, etc.

Entrance Preview

Architecture department in NIT Calicut is one of the best in South India. The course is more technically oriented than towards the drawings. This will enable the students to get more technical knowledge through rigorous exercises and training, which will help to specialize in more technical fields later on.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements in Architectural is comparatively less than other engineering branches in NIT Calicut. The major reason being the lack of interest among students. Many students start their individual firms or prefer to go for higher studies. But every year few students get placed in LnT and KITCO regularly.

College Events

4

The major events are TATHVA and RAGAM. There are department wise events and programs for TATHVA and an Architectural fest ADIZYA will also be conducted during TATHVA week. There will be Pro Shows at night and technical programs and competitions in the morning. During RAGAM there will be cultural programs, competitions and night shows.

Fees and Financial Aid

The are scholarships available of Muslims and SC/ST students. There are also scholarships from central government like CSSS.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life is very enjoyable. The technical fest TATHVA and the Cultural fest RAGAM are the major events of the academic calendar. The number of male students are much more than female students in the campus. In the recent years the ratio is improving considerable.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel is separate for male and female students. The ladies hostel is in a separate gated compound and there is timing restrictions for the female students. The gents hostel is inside the campus and they can access to all the in campus facilities much easily.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, The seniors and alumni networks are very important, especially in Architecture department. This will be more helpful during case studies, internships etc.

Admission

The admission process to get in to Architecture of National Institute of Technology Calicut is through Joint Entrance Examination Main merit currently. When I was taking admission the selection was based on the ranking in All India Engineering Entrance Examination Paper 2.

Faculty

3

The permanent faculties in Department of Architecture were good and there were many temporary faculties or Adhoc faculties. These faculties are mostly inexperienced teachers. So they are guided by the permanent faculties to conduct the courses. The labs and the studio classes were handled by more than one faculty.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course as I am passionate about architecture. Student faculty ratio for design subjects was satisfactory. For our class of almost 38 students, we had three design faculties. Faculties were well qualified, graduated from various reputed colleges from all over India.

Admission:

I wrote a NATA exam. First, I got admission in Tamilnadu. Due to some health-related issues, I can't be okay with the climate of Tamil Nadu. Then I searched about colleges in Kerala and found this. We went to this college with certificates, mark lists etc and they made an interview. After I was selected in that interview, I joined there.
