Course Curriculum Overview
This course offers flexibility in the domain you want to choose. There is no fixed purely core domains being stressed onto the students. The exams are of moderate difficulty and depend on faculty. Teaching is done on multiple modes based on faculty convenience.
Internships Opportunities
All internships offered by NITK are research oriented. At most a stipend of 5000 is offered for some internships. BTech students aren't involved in internships with collab projects with companies. As they are research based internships it is very helpful for those seeking to go for higher studies.
Placement Experience
Over 900 companies visit throughout the year for placement. Highest package is 54LPA by Amazon for CSE student. Highest package for a mechanical student is 32LPA by Goldman Sachs. Average package for NITK is 9LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
External scholarships are supported and encouraged. There is no NITK scholarship for students. Reserved category students recieve benefits in fees and concessions in tuition fees. All fees change every semester. Almost all student related activities are run by students. The student council is responsible for all problems in student welfare in college.
Campus Life
All clubs are student run. Students take up responsibility positions in clubs and other student bodies. INCIDENT and ENGINEER are the biggest fests in clg and they occur in each of the sem. Academically there is very intensive support with library and research. There are many sports activities within NITK and all grounds are well equipped.
Hostel Facilities
All Hostel rooms are well equipped. Mess food quality is not up to the mark. But the diet will be very balanced. First years get triple sharing and second years get double sharing. Everyone else get single rooms. The rooms and washrooms are well maintained.
Admission
Eligibility is based on JEE rank. I got a rank of 3228. The closing rank was somewhere at 3700. Counselling was through JoSAA. JEE exams were difficult. Admission is hectic as it is recommended to have 50 colleges and branches in preferences at the very least and you might get anywhere.
