The course structure and the academics portion
The well versed faculty who had amazing knowledge of the course
It is the best place if you are not someone who is in to co curricular activities

Dislikes

Absence of exposure of real world, in terms of personality development
there were no social or co curricular activities encouraged by the college
no campus placement, so after college it is your sole responsibility to find a career for yourself

Course Curriculum Overview

Since the college was under the University of Calcutta it was quite a detailed course covering every aspect of the accounting and finance portion that would prepare me for the available job opportunities in the market in finance and accounting The aspects however that needs to be worked upon is the upgradation of the course content by making it a little easier to understand and follow.

Class Size: 60Course Fees: INR 10000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees is quite reasonable for a semi government college under Rs, 10000 annually, since it has been long I am not quite aware of the present fee structure the entire cost of the course can be availed under Rs. 20000 yes, one can avail scholarship there are no campus employment opportunities

Campus Life

Since it was a semi government college, there was not much in the name of clubs or associations or any other cocurricular activity, but yes there were freshers, farewell and other national celebrations - yes library is available with wide range of books and journal related to one's course - there arent any technical provisions in the classroom - back then there werent any social clubs

Admission

The admission process was easy, I had to pick the form from the college premises itself fill it up and shared the details fees was paid and the admission was confirmed. The admission process was quite easy and the admin was supportive too and helped each candidate facing issues.

Placement Experience:

Idk but i guess students become eligible from 2nd or 3rd sem. Idk what is the company visited but the placements are very good i heard that, avg package varies 2.4 lpa I guess. Right now i am doing internship so as of now i don't have plans.

Various companies come to this college for on campus placement Average package= 1000000 Highest package=2200000 Various multi national company and other big and small companies visit this college for on campus placement. Most of the students also get placement opportunities whether large or small package The opportunity is given to all degree whether it be bcom or bcom hons . Any student who does not get placed can easily use the degree to get a high paying off campus placements and to go to any good college or stay in this college for their post graduation.

Quite an Average Government College which lacks in infrastructure, faculty, and placements.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I mentioned, the course curriculum is outdated and no new industry knowledge is being taught. Projects and assignments are also bookish and are just for sake. Teaching methods by teachers are also bookish and backward. The frequency of exams are after every 6 months and are pretty manageable and easy.

The admission process under Calcutta University is carried out via wb portal in which you can apply for all the interested colleges and you get alloted in any one of them as per your marks and other criteria .. Getting into Jalan was my 3rd prefered college other than this I had appeared for Cuet but I couldn't pursue my degree there because of my parents as they don't consider Delhi a safe option... Then I had options to go to private colleges under CU but pursuing bcom in any private colleges or government college doesn't really make any difference so I selected Jalan college ... BRIEFING ON SSJGC

The admission process was smooth and frustating at the same time. Everyone who passed their higher secondry in commerce field were eligible for admission. We need to personally collect admission form from college which cost around Rs 200 and these college have a period of atleast 3 month after higher secondry result declaration for admission. The admission fee was Rs10000 for this course and alter as we change to other courses. The reservation benefits were restricted only to fee concession as the reserved category paid less fee.No category wise admission were there.
