BITS Hyderabad Complete Review

Course curriculum is pretty good i would rate it an easy 8/10. The course schedule is released in advance and teachers pretty much stick to it. In terms of relevance and comprehensiveness it is also pretty good the courses are relevant to your degree. BITS has a zero attendance policy so its very flexible in terms of academics. Despite being zero attendance some courses prof keeps evaluative classes for getting attendace. There are 2 major exams that is mid sem and comprenhensive exams and other quiz components keeps happening in between these. Difficulty is moderate attending regualar classes and previous year papers is enough.

The internship opportunities are really good there are 2 compulsary internships for all the students so that everyone is experienced for jobs and get the real time industry exposure. It is called practice school(ps). The first ps takes place after 2nd year and is for apprix 2 months. The secons one happens in the 4th year and is basically one semester of your college this ps 2 is the one in which most of the ppo are offered specially for the finance placement. Apart from this summer internships are offered in the third year its not compulsary for everyone but everyone can sit for the internship. In PS 1 most of the people does not get stipend but in SI and PS 2 the stipend is pretty good

The placements are decent. As compared to most colleges its really good. The students get placed in the 4th year. All of the major companies visit the campus campus for placements.to increase the chance of placements and more industry exposure there are two compulsary internships called practice school(ps). The first ps - ps1 happens after 2nd year and is of 2 months its the first exposure to industry and the second one happens in 4th year for any one semester of the 4th year. The second one is the major intership and most ppo offers are from ps2. Highest package is around 80 lakhs and average is 14-16 lakhs. Alomst 90% students gets placed. I plan to take a job after getting the degree and maybe go for further studies in the future.

The tution fee is 2,85,000 per semester with an 5% annual increase rate. The complete cost of my college is 28,00,000 including hostel fees, mess etc There are two scholarships available one is merit based, you need 9.3+ CGPA. The other scholarship is called MCN (merit cum need scholarship), to apply you need income under 12LPA and the scholarship also depends on your CGPA. You can easily get 80% scholarship with 8.5 CGPA. You can apply for teaching assistant it has a stipend of 5k per month. The job requires 1-2 hours of work per week.

Overall campus life is amazing there are three major fests cultural,technical and sports fest. The fests are amazing and a life time experience the fest days will tje the best 3-4 days in your semester. Apart from this there are small fests happening all the time throughout the semester. The club involvement depends on the person but there is a club or department for almost anything you have interest in or you can think of and the culture is really good. The infrastructure is very good including the hostels, the acad block , the library and the general campus area. The grounds and courts are well maintained a d there is a space for all the sports, including the indoor sports or gym.

Hostels are an average sized and with normal facilities. My room has a single bed , an almirah, table,chair and a shelf. There is no A/C in the room but fan is there. The meal quality is decent and the dinner is mostly good in the mess. The lunch is pretty average in terms of menu. The food is good but the same mess menu becomes monotonous and the shuffle is menu is not very frequent. Registration for hostel is easy, you get an hostel alloted with seat allotment. There is no pg allowed and everyone stays in campus only.

Firstly i had to give BITSAT exam to get into BITS. The examimation scores only were considered for application. Application form and other info are available on the bits website. There is no reservation in BITS. There are 2 exams each year out of which best score is considered. Difficulty is moderate ,bit easier than JEE. In my year cutoff for mechanical engineering was around 186 marks. Admission eligiblity was above 75% marks in 12th standard. The only part i didn't like about admission is that you have to report to the campus physically after offering a seat and if your campus changes in some iteration/round you again have to go to that campus and report physically or you will lose the seat. Apart from this overall admission process was smooth.
