Remarks

The management is nice. If you got a problem just go to the reception and bang on your problems are solved. It's that's good.

Entrance Preview

Because I had my siblings passed out from this very college and everyone has suggested to me for my course that's economics honors. Plus the infrastructure and faculty are also very famous of the college. The alumni are great too. And the college library is a heaven.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Shri Shikshayatan College comes under Calcutta university and so the syllabus and course curriculum is defined by the university itself. The curriculum for my course that's economics honors was very impressive. It covered all the aspects of the subject that a graduate-level student should know.

Internships Opportunities

That's the one the I guess the college lack. There is not much option for internship and stuff. There is one placement cell that can give ideas about the same.

Placement Experience

2

It's not that great. If the student itself bothers a lot about going to the placement cell and asking now and then only they make you know about it. Otherwise, I didn't experience anything like big shot companies coming to the college and picking us up for the jobs and stuff.

College Events

5

Omg this is a tough job because every other day there's a celebration going on but the best part is it's up to you that you want to be a part of it or just continue with the classes because classes never stop. There is sports week, then national festivals, college fests, hindi diwas, ncc day, several competitions, Freshers, teachers day, students day and what not.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee is a bit on the expensive side. But honestly it's worth it. For my course it was 28000 per annum for three years. This includes tuition fees library fees and all the stuffs except the examination fees of university. This also includes games facilities and stuffs. Theres one extra fees for swimming classes but that's not compulsory for one to take.

Fees and Financial Aid

A Friend of mine who topped the university exam got scholarship of 10000 bucks and that was awesome.

Campus Life

5

Campus life is really fun. Canteen is good. The places to hang out in college is a lot particularly the gym room yoga room and games room. And it's a girls college so no point of sex ratio. Extracurricular activities are a lot. All kinds of sports are available to play if you're interested. And debates happen quite a lot in very well organized manner.

Hostel Facilities

2

Sadly there was not any hostel of the college but there are hundreds and hundreds of private hostels and paying guests services near the college and they are very nice. I stayed in one and it was just like home. The food was tasty and the other people were mostly of the same college.

Alumni/Alumna

I couldn't be a part of any alumni meet due to my personal reasons but the seniors during these college years were awesome and very helpful.

Exam Structure

The exams are conducted in a very well organized manner. We get pre midterms which are like some test. Then we get midterm exams which is full on the exam and then we have selections before the main university exam which the student has to clear in order to appear for the university exam.

Admission

I filled up the application form online with the details of my class 12th marks and other stuffs. Then they brought out their first cutoff list and bang on my name was there. I was elated a lot. Then they assigned the day to come up and fill up the other details and I went to Kolkata and did the useful and there I was the student of Shri Shikshayatan. It's that easy.

Faculty

5

The faculty is the best part of the college. Every course has separate teachers. And the HoD is changed every year. They are highly qualified and well experienced. They are polite and helpful by nature. They maintain a friendly nature with students and are ready to help even outside the classroom.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've always found economics to be really interesting and thats why I choose to persue it. I wanted to dive deep into the actual concepts and workings of the economy and understand how the world works from an economist's point of view. Sadly the curriculam doesnt bridge the gap between theory and real life. It focuses heavily on textbook and not how the world works.

The curriculum for the Physical and Inorganic chemistry are upto the mark and I felt improvement in teaching style and curriculum is required for Organic Chemistry part. The difficulty of Internal examination can be improved a bit.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course is good but you have to opt for masters and PhD to get a good placement. After bsc there's not any placement. The curriculum was basically practical and theoretical based. But I think it should be more practical so that we can get a job after doing bsc. The teaching method was good I didn't have any problem with that. As it was under Calcutta University so the exam questions were too difficult, sometimes it came out of our syllabus , i think they should change this a little bit .

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus for BSc. Microbiology Hons. was in line with my interests. Few topics like virology, bacteriology, and diversity of the microbial workd are what drew my attention to pick this course. Although there are some portions which one would consider "boring", but I believe every subject has its interesting as well as boring portions. It's seems fair to judge a subject by seeing if the "boring" portions outweigh the "interesting" parts or not.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In terms of relevance and comprehensiveness of the course curriculum, my rating is solid 4.1 out of 5. Because it offers a variety of courses like compulsory english, environmental science, constitution values of India, Inter Disciplinary Courses where one can opt for a variety of subjects which change along with the course proceeds or semester changes. Not only that two major papers and one minor paper are present throughout the semester. As a student we should be well aware of our country and its law as well as how we can keep our environment healthy followed by sustainable development.
